Soseki calling his mom by her name Lisa is a very good and very deliberate choice. One that the English translators, led by sex pest John Lasseter of disney fame, removed from the dub. Instead he calls her "mom" in a politically correct attempt to not challenge the audience in even the most tiny and inoffensive ways. It was a very intentional removal too. Soseki no longer calls his dad Koichi. And if I recall, Ponyo also doesn't refer to her father as Fujimoto. The translators desecrate a work of art for the sake of their own politics and disdain for children's agency.
