Lauren Gregory:  Oil Painting Gifs

Brooklyn-based and Tennessee-raised, Lauren Gregory is a third-generation southern female painter. who also works as a animator and director.  She earned an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2009 and developed oil paint stop-motion animations - moving paintings in which thick impasto strokes appear to move before the viewer’s eyes - and music videos for international acts.

This image from ESO’s VISTA telescope captures a celestial landscape of vast, glowing clouds of gas and tendrils of dust surrounding hot young stars. This infrared view reveals the stellar nursery known as NGC 6357 in a new light. It was taken as part of the VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea (VVV) survey, which is currently scanning the Milky Way in a bid to map our galaxy’s structure and explain how it formed.
