it seemed as if with every day that passed, more and more people got wind of her mother’s successful restaurant. it was relatively new compared to the other shops and restaurants that lined the street, and despite the minimal advertising prior to its opening, the place had been doing surprisingly well.
today had been particularly busy. taking into consideration that the only two employees on the floor were herself and a new part-timer, as well as the uncharacteristically large number of customers, it was inevitable that their hands would be full for a while.
hours went, and finally things had slowed down. no longer was seol jogging frantically from table to table, in and out of the kitchen. in just another twenty minutes, she would be allowed to take a break. until then, she just had to serve the last few customers that were still seated.
she was taking the order of an elderly couple, all kind smiles and casual conversation, when from the corner of her eye she caught a young man discreetly pulling out a camera. questionable, she thought, but she continued talking to her customers nonetheless. she doubted there was anything to take a picture of in here. after taking the couple’s order to the kitchen, she was instructed to tend to someone who had just come in – none other than the man with the camera.
seol approached the table as she would any other, smiling softly at the stranger. “hello,” she greeted with a slight bow of her head. “have you decided what you want yet?” clasping her hands behind her back, she waited for him to answer. her gaze drifted, locating the camera she’d seen him use earlier. “that’s a nice camera…” she mused.
