I love how much attention to detail went into these. The STACK of candy and coloured markers Aoi brought, Quincy's dice tower and the direction the chair faces showing us how he usually sits, the comical amount of coffee cups around Lettie's area and one of her pet mice sitting in the mimic figurine, the way Arthur has his dice lined up in a neat orderly line and being a heavy drinker as evidenced by the empty beer bottles under his seat, Eleanor's little dice tray and how her note-taking pens + pad sit on her left implying she's left handed, the empty character sheet with the lotus origami which I have to assume is the Drifter's.
And of course, a peak at the DM's screen 👀
Like they didn't need to do all this. They could've just given everyone the same generic scattered dice asset with pens sitting in the same spot next to their character sheets, but instead it's quite personalized. There's so much about the Hex you can glean simply from how their personal space is arranged. And all this to say, these are biomechanical supes who decided to be a little whimsical and sit down to play the in-universe equivalent of DnD because one of their friends asked them to.
It's all very charming. This whole update is just charming.

So in today’s F&F update Amir introduces a character that directly parodies Captain Vor complete with his insufferable speech.
Does this mean Drifter has quoted Vor verbatim to the Hex? Has the Drifter ranted about him enough to stick in Amir’s memory? Hilarious if that’s the case

so my guy aint good with people. Like really not good. never really learnt much in Duviri (shocker) and anything before Zariman doesnt really help much after u killed your parents, ate them, and hid from other unhinged traumatized kids to survive (also shocker). And its not like he had grand social adventures after duviri and before new war, mostly scrapping by and adjusting to a basically new world (triple shocker).
SO i imagined him having the hardest time trying to socialize and befriend the Hex. Hes so shy and avoidant, in-person interactions were painfully awkward and frustrating for both parties. And Kim chats weren't any smoother. He’d fuck up relationships real fast cuz he couldnt read the room, understand humor, understand other languages, understand basic things of their time, and in general, struggle to relate to them. Just cuz…he doesn’t have any meaningful practice. After his first loop, he realized this and knew he needed a different approach if he was ever gonna save things.
So over the next loops, he’d end up obsessively keeping track of likes, dislikes, triggers, what did work with each Hex member, kept records of bad and good conversations. Sometimes word for word of conversations. Made himself glossaries for slang and things he didnt know from that era. He built himself a playbook, to carefully craft himself into a person for each Hex member that they would find likable. Not for his sake but for the sole purpose of saving them all. Even if he wanted them to like him, none of their care or affection mattered because it was only the result of him being what they wanted to a T. He could never be himself around them if he wanted to fix them
Before he was able to find a way to unite them all, sometimes he’d get so fixated in making sure the loop is just perfect that if he ever makes a minor mistake or said something he didnt plan to say that could alter things too drastically…he’d uh end the loop early. To start all over again. As you can imagine, this is perhaps not healthy way to handle social interaction sjvjjd but what can u expect from a idiot raised in a timeloop
Anyway…back to the drawing… anytime he reach the farthest point he’s gotten in the loop, he panic. He has no diagrams to guide him through the most optimal way throughout the days he’s with the Hex. He’s exceptionally anxious during these times. Sometimes hes tempted to restart the loop right then and there, just to feel back in control/in familiar territory.
Once he finally reunited the Hex and knows all the right things and actions to take to get there when the loop naturally restarts, hes once again scared but most of all apathetic. Now that goal has been complete, he has nothing to strive for obsessively anymore. He gets more withdrawn, avoids talking/eye contact, stays longer in the Backrooms, and gets uncharacteristically (to the Hex) cold. Because whats the point getting anymore chummy? He’s gonna have to do this all over again eventually
through it all, he feels deeply unlovable and profoundly out of place. Having to play therapist and make everyone feel loved constantly while pretending you are a Normal Functioning Human for so many years is well uh taxing. Makes u numb and think everyone is fake and would (and has) hated you if you acted any differently
anywho thats all nncjjvjcjgjjx thats me injecting drifter with my social anxiety, my nervousness with the KIM chat system and wanting to say the perfect thing for each person, even if i didnt agree or feel honest about it on my drifter’s behalf. And resetting the chat system a few times cuz i didnt do it Just Right. kimulacrum for the win…
also as an aside cuz i started the F&F chats, my drifter would say he needs to go piss and never return and just cry djhvjc ACTING WHILE ACTING? WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO CREATE ANOTHER PERSONA. I’M MICROMANAGING ALL 6 OF MINE RIGHT NOW JUST EXISITNG WITH YOU ALL IN ONE ROOM. That is too much shfjjd. But dont worry, in the next few loops he’ll figure out how to play in a way everyone likes 🙃

Personal theory on why the fnf campaign is *actually* on kim...
Further elaboration-
its 4 am now so I didnt add it in, but I like to think that the part with Drifter making their character in person was a temp-gauge esque "hows the drifter doing" thing for Amir. He decided they might be more comfortable over KIM, and since Drifter didn't give pushback whatsoever or even insinuate they'd prefer in person (that I could find) Amir was like "and Amirbot is a go" and just kept it there and improvised reasons.
Clearly the others have already at least played a session zero, and the drifter's spot is set up for them with a drink and candy and everything and it's still totally untouched. So the room is in use, and I infer from context clues that the drifter is either too busy or not comfortable enough to use it. Or, likely, both.
Social anxiety + trauma + busy as shit + doesn't know what a break is = Hey it could be extremely nice to "have a fnf campaign they can all play from anywhere without the drifter feeling like it's their fault it's not in person"

Q- (Who is doing that) 'That wholly depends on if you're messin' right now.'
A- 'Hardy har. Look upon me and behold absolute seriousness.'

Q- "Tell me- How long you reckon Drifta's sentences are, on average?'
A- 'Uh.'
A- '....three?'
Q- 'mhm.'
Q- 'You're lucky to hear six words together. Much less theydem talkin' twice a day.'
A- 'Well yeah, but-'
Q- 'Outa curiosity, you remember how long ago the last time they actually came to bar night was?'

A- 'But... Y'know. I thought that surely, after all this time, they'd be a little more... confident? And I figured they could use a bit of downtime for once doing something that wont kill them for messing up.'
A- 'And there's basically nothing else I can really offer them anyways. They've bought out my stock and yet they keep helping out, like! I dunno. I just want them to feel wanted. And comfortable. Kim-Drifter comfortable-'
A- 'I could do a Kim campaign.'
