Cavite, for me, is such a wonderful place. It has history and beautiful tourist attractions. π€© However, it is notable mainly because this is where my home is. This is where I feel the safest. π
But life is not always sunny. There will be rains and thunders... like literally!! βοΈπ
There were times when Cavite was struck by calamities like typhoon "Rolly," wherein the province was declared under a state of calamity during that time.

There is also an incident where hundreds of residents were forced to evacuate last 2021 because of heavy flooding caused by heavy winds and downpours due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.

But even after that, I could say that my family and I are fortunate because we weren't affected so much even though we experienced those calamities. I mean to say that there are no casualties or damaged properties on our part.
I guess I have to thank my father for that because he chose to build our home in a good location. Since our subdivision is in high areas, we are not prone to flooding.
Though we sometimes felt earthquakes that hit the nearby provinces, thank God, we were never really hit directly by them. However, thinking that while we are lucky, there are families that had it worst makes me sad.
A calamity is an event causing great and often sudden damage or distress. We could never know when, where, and how it would happen. But, we can always be prepared.
Knowing what to do before, during, and after a calamity could save lives. Let us also not forget that there are ways to prevent calamities, like participating in projects against global warming and taking care of our environment. As I see it, this should be one of our priorities. As we build our future, we have to make sure that we stay safe in the world we live in so that we can all breathe easier. One little deed by millions of Filipino is a key to our future.
That is what NSTP 2 is trying to teach us. As I complied with the NSTP 2 requirements, I became more knowledgeable about natural disasters and what to do with them. I learned how to make an evacuation plan and map (although I'm not good at it yet π ), prepare a Go-Bag and be brave to learn new things. NSTP 2 also inspired me to educate my family and friends about the different disasters that could hit us. Better be safe than sorry, right? My responsibility, not just as a student, a daughter, and a friend, but also as a member of my community, is to participate in different projects to make a better and more organized safety plan for the rest of my community and me.
