And while we’re on the subject, the reason the folklore/evermore fans who hate on all of her other albums drive me up the wall is because I ALSO love folklore and evermore to the point of delirium. They really are that good. But my love for them doesn’t cloud my ability to evaluate her more upbeat pop music by the standards of upbeat pop music instead of by the standards of champagne problems and my tears ricochet. And I don’t suddenly lose my ability to recognize poignant lyrics and vivid storytelling when there’s a dance beat behind them.
