  The Chittaranjan Palace, built for Mysore's princesses, has been lovingly restored as a small hotel. The Green Hotel has been set up as a model of sustainable tourism, by a UK charity. All profits are distributed to charitable and environmental projects in India. Mysore, the charming town immortalised by RK Narayan in his Malgudi novels, provides an excellent base from which to tour South India. The Western Ghats, the coffee plantations of Coorg, the game reserves of the Nilgris and the Ooty hill station are all within a few hours drive.

Yellapura is a town in the North Kanara(Uttara Kannada) district of Karnataka in the country of India. Yellapura is known as a "main road town", meaning it is a village with one main road and facilities such as telephone booths, tea serving stalls, and tire puncture repair shops. 90% of the people in Yellapura are farmers who grow Areca nuts and rice.

 How to reach Yellapur

The nearest railway station is Hubli with good connections to Bangalore, Mangalore and Chennai. Hubli is nearly 500 kilometers away from Yellapur and this distance can be covered in a taxi. However, given that the falls are inaccessible during the monsoon, the best time to visit would be from November to April.

  Satoddi Falls: Satoddi Falls is one of the most well-known falls in Karnataka. It is at a distance of 25 km from the town of Yellapura. It is not possible to visit the falls in rainy season. November to April is the best time to visit the falls. On the outskirts of Yellapura, traveling towards Hubli, is the left turn that leads to Satoddi. Part of the road is an all-weather road but a portion, nearly one-third the distance, is not motorable during rains.

Magod Falls: Magod Falls is situated 19 km away from Yellapura, in the village of Magodu. Here, the Bedthi river takes two distinct leaps to hurtle from a height of 650 ft. into a rocky ravine. Near the falls, there is a sunset point called Jenu Kallu Gudda where you can see a beautiful view of the sun set. There is a village called Kalache just 30 km from Yellapur. Hundreds of tourists visit this place every year. On the way from Yellapura to Magod falls, there is a lake in the midst of a forest called Kavdi Kere.
