𝐢 𝐚𝐦  𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞. 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐨  𝐌𝐔𝐑𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐒  𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 ?  —— 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐲 𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐬   𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐬.  𝐢𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥. 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭    𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋.

          lucius does not  PARDON  when he walks, never has. he steps as if commanding the earth to move  for  him, and the halls clear for  HIM  as we makes his way forth. raised on a strict diet of  pride  and staunch brutality, the student barely flinches when his shoulder  hooks  against the younger witch’s, and all but ignores her. a glance back is all that shows he registers the collision, an expectance in his gaze. silent. no  apology  is uttered, but, with languid pride does he draw his chin upward, peering down the bridge of his nose at the  GIRL.

lucius did  NOT  like voldemort. and, after his destruction following the murders of the potters, he was honestly  pleased  to lose him as a leader of the cause. he was deeply involved in the ideas and values of the dark forces, but felt more  FEAR  than anything that caused him to serve him. for years following his “death,” lucius was content to live in peace, while holding his strong opinions over the status of wizard supremacy. in fact, when draco was born, lucius had already begun to feel that there was great danger in being a servant of lord voldemort. and that... made him try more  earnestly  to serve.

it would keep his family safe, allied, and well-respected. as little as he liked voldemort, it was necessary. defecting was out of the question completely, for fear of their lives as well as the future of the wizarding world. and voldemort was the  ONLY  conduit for ensuring that the pure blood of wizards could be maintained.

the entire reason he rejoins lord voldemort in service is out of nothing but cowardice. sure, perhaps voldemort represents his ideals, and they  ARE  disgusting, but he certainly wasn’t drawn to him for that.

          ❝ — draco,  QUIET  !  ❞  one note too high in pitch, one  SYLLABLE  too loud for his ears had lucius finally breaking his focus. the tension in his skull found no solace, even in most  particular  of his hobbies. easing by the fire, burying  FEAR  away in his heart while hands worked quickly across some  artifact  of abysmal origin. draco’s voice, in this time, was no  BALM  for the wizard. only a  pain.  

          his voice snapped, sharp across the long hall, as he replied to the steadily approaching  whimpering  of his son. when had they spoiled him ?  he wondered. when did his love for the child become so  tiresome  ?  perhaps it was his mother. if she  had only  not been so overbearing of their son. he rises, feigning patience, preserving his ire — it was unsuitable for his son, in all his  youth and  ignorance.
