My Highschool Theater Tech Voltron AU headcanons:
- A year older than Keith, Hunk, and Lance
- They all cry during her last show of senior year
- She preaches tolerance and forgiveness for the sake of the show but you can tell she has major beef with several actors
- Doesn't have a side of the stage since she's in the booth, calling the show
- Has been stage managing since freshman year and does everything nearly flawlessly by her senior show
- Has a humongous water bottle that sits in the booth with her while she calls the show
- Her stage manager script is always really cutely decorated for the current show
- Acts sometimes but very rarely because the theater tech department will fall apart without her
- She's had multiple breakdowns
- People keep starting shit during the show and she is SO tired
- Lotor is her ex and also an actor and she has major dirt on him
- She unloads all her tea on whoever goes to eat with her during tech week
- Tries to keep the nonsense with the headsets to a minimum but bs still happens
- Very clearly has a showmance going on with Romelle
- Keith can't drive and she takes him everywhere
- Going to do theater in college but not going to college for theater
- When she graduates, they will have no stage manager and all hell will break loose
- Started tech as a sophomore after realizing she enjoyed it better than acting
- Absolutely despises Lotor and really wants to sabotage his costume but won't as to not ruin the show
- Ex friends with Luka who is also an actor and it's really awkward now
- Always shows up with food or a coffee during tech week
- On stage right and helps actors with costume changes
- She loves peaking at the show from the wings
- Really nosy about what Keith and Lance talk about
- Claims stage right is superior
- Has been talking everyone's ears off about her crush on Allura
- Has a stash of safety pins and hair ties on her at all times
- She cried so hard after her last performance and promised everyone that she'd come back to watch next year's show
- Her and Lance complain about their love lives together
- She hit a parked car once and is now a very cautious driver
- Likes working on props but hates dealing with actors
- Collapses after tech week and succumbs to whatever mixture of sickness and exhaustion he's been fighting back all week
- Stage right with Romelle
- Has to be the one to reprimand actors when they do stupid shit backstage because Romelle doesn't like doing it
- They've got a very clear good cop/bad cop dynamic
- Uses sign language to communicate with the other side of the stage from the wings
- This was initially intended to check on things in a more casual way without misusing the headset but has devolved since Lance only uses it to bother Keith
- Painted some of the sets
- Keith can technically drive but not legally because Shiro doesn't trust him with a licence yet
- Since Keith can't drive, he gets rides with Allura and they joke that he's her passenger princess
- Freshmen keep hearing this and thinking they're dating
- Had to stage manage once because Allura wanted to act in the show and nobody else would do it
- He was absolutely miserable and he's never doing it again
- He told Lance to shoot him in the head if he ever agrees to be stage manager again
- Once threatened to kill himself without realizing that Shiro was right behind him
- All the underclassmen either love him or hate him, no in-between
- Stage right would be in chaos without him around
- He's so strict about not having phones or beverages backstage it's insane
- tech crew gets a pass on the phone thing but if Romelle wants to drink her coffee, she's got to do it outside the stage
- Only tech crew member who knows the real story of how Shiro lost his arm
- loves being a little evil
- Doesn't stop people from having their phones backstage and actually takes stupid photos and selfies on them when they're left unattended
- Low-key keeps losing his phone
- Learned sign language to communicate with Keith from the wings
- Keith doesn't get that he's flirting
- If a costume piece isn't put away by the time the actor leaves, he pretends it's lost when the actor comes in the next day and freaks them out
- Definitely sabotaged Lotor at least once
- Claims to not be upset about the Keith/Allura dating rumors but it's so obvious that he is
- Complains to everyone on stage left about his love life
- Started as an actor and sucked at it before realizing his true potential was in costuming
- Started what he thought was a feud between the prop and costume departments but it never caught on and literally nobody knows what he's talking about when he references it
- Always the one who makes the tech group chat for the show
- Will probably confess to Keith on accident during tech week and Keith will be so locked in he doesn't even realize
- Has insisted everyone on tech needs matching shirts
- Makes a lot of alterations on the costumes
- Helps with quick changes on stage left
- Is going to be miserable once Romelle graduates
- Everytime a costume piece matches that character's prop, he tells Keith "great minds think alike"
- Has been harassing the technical director about what the musical is going to be next year
- Has money on when Romelle and Allura will get together
- Records tiktoks during tech week
- Because he built the sets, he's there to fix something if it goes wrong during the show
- Also moves set pieces during scene changes
- Got stuck on the stage after a scene change and Lance filmed it from the wings
- He had to hide behind a set piece that doesn't extend to the edge of the stage
- Brought in the best brownies anyone has ever tasted during tech week and people keep asking him to make more
- Hypes Lance up to flirt with Keith
- He would never bet on his friends' relationships because that's wrong
- He only gossips about it
- One time Lance and Pidge broke a prop because they were being stupid and he hot glued it back together before Keith could notice
- Keeps insisting that everyone eat properly and not die during tech week
- Gets pissed at Keith for not following his advice
- The only reason stage left isn't an absolute mess
- Thinks Lance's shenanigans are funny but is too afraid of breaking the rules to actively partake so he enables from the sidelines when nobody's looking
- Shay doesn't do theater but she always hangs around during tech week because her and Hunk are dating and she's considered an honorary member of crew
- Posts a photo dump of all the pictures he takes during tech week, documenting the stupid crap happening backstage
- Drags his friends along to the scene shop to sit there while he cuts wood so they can help if he accidentally cuts off his arm with the chop saw
- These are absolutely legendary gossip sessions
- Two years younger than Lance, Hunk, and Keith
- Either on run crew/stage crew or doing lights in the booth
- I feel like they would start off on stage crew doing miscellaneous stuff and then end up doing booth but that means they wouldn't be in the booth with Allura and I so want them in the booth with Allura
- Maybe they skipped a grade
- They love fooling around backstage
- As stage crew, they switch sides depending on which side of the stage needs more assistance at the time
- Not that big of a of the physical stuff but loves the computery side of tech
- Probably in robotics too
- Has money on when Romelle and Allura will officially get together
- Their mom is one of those parents who support the theater department by bringing snacks and food in during tech week
- It's always too much food for Pidge to carry and they have to enlist someone to help
- Their dad works in professional theater tech and has done a bunch of shows with Shiro when Shiro does shows outside of the school
- They're devastated when they remember that they will be the last one standing (after everyone older than them graduates)
- Found a weird and very old prop of a dog hidden deep in the prop closet and named it Rover
- Rover is the theater department's good luck charm
- Doesn't learn the plot of the show until tech week
- Teaches theater tech classes and intro to theater so he's always pretty busy
- Uses Shiro as his professional name in theater and thus has his students call him that instead of Mr Shirogane
- The principal low-key keeps chewing him out for letting his students call him that because it's "disrespectful" but he doesn't care
- Anytime a student asks how he lost his arm, he tells them it's because he didn't follow safety regulations
- Randomly drops insane lore during tech week when everyone's taking a break
- Despite this, very little people know that he's Keith's older brother
- He hides it for Keith's benefit because he wants Keith to be able to shine on his own and not have his achievements attributed to Shiro
- Everyone knows he's married to Adam and everyone tries to find him in the crowd during shows
- I think Adam would work as a teacher at the school
- Adam brings him flowers for every show
- Shiro lets students spend their free time in the scene shop as long as they aren't cutting anything unsupervised
- He tries to ignore student gossip for the sake of his integrity as a teacher but students keep trying to gossip to him
- Is purposely really confusing when giving hints to anyone about next year's musical
- He gives Lance hints and then tells Hunk that he gives Lance fake hints to sow seeds of confusion
- The only one who's gotten a legitimate hint is Keith and it was a warning that it's an extremely prop heavy show
- Hates setting up for various assemblies and events
- Makes his theater tech class help when they aren't too busy
- He claims it's a learning opportunity but if he has to hook up and un hook up this sound system again this week, the school is going to be missing a technical director
