Battlefield 1 -First Impressions-
First Impression: Campaign
In itâs first minutes, Battlefield 1 really portrays the atmosphere of W.W.1. Opening on the front lines of a battle, it gives the player a good backstory your character and allows you to appreciate the emotion and sacrifice soldiers must have experienced during this brutal war.
Iâve only played a few campaign missions, and so far Iâm very impressed with the immersion. After you complete the first missions (that you are thrown into). You are able to choose different battles throughout Europe over the course of W.W.1. This makes the campaign more free, since you can choose the battles and time you want to go into. Some focused more on tank battles, some on air combat and others infantry combat. This is a different take on the Battlefield Series, which I enjoy.
First Impression: Multiplayer arena
My favorite mode as with most battlefield games is conquest. Capturing and holding posts through a map is always fun. Thereâs a new mode introduced in battlefield 1 called âOperations.â This mode is really fun. One team attacks the other defends with a set number of attackers and defenders which makes more of a consequence to dying. Operations is almost a mix of conquest and rush.
Another new mode is war pigeons. In this mode you have to find the messenger pigeons to send messages to supporting artillery to take out the enemy. Its similar to team deathmatch but with a twist.
Other modes include capture the flag, team deathmatch, domination, and rush which are all good game modes which have been featured in most newer battlefield games.
Loadouts are very different from each other, creating a unique style for each class depending on which one you choose; Support(heavy gun), Medic, scout(sniper), assault, pilot (when you pick a plane), tanker (when you pick a tank), cavalry(when you pick a horse)
The Level design is amazing, very similar to the technology that was used with battlefront but with destructible environments. Anything from trees to buildings can be demolished, leaving the map quite different at the end of each round then when it began.
As rewards during online matches you receive war bonds, which you can use to purchase weapons or tools. You can also get battlepacks which unlocks random weapons/items. If you donât like the weapon you can scrap them and use them to make other weapons. Which I felt is a nice touch. Each class also has the ability to level up with specific weapons unattainable until you achieve the required level.
Overall I give this game a 9/10 so far!
