A clever combination of edgy beats and memorable electronic textures, somewhere in between electro and hip-hop.

One of the most impressive aspects of this release is that it is very versatile, sonically speaking. On one hand, it really makes me think of the glory days of rap music when the flow of the groove was just as important as the beat. However, it definitely also has a really cool focus on experimental ideas and powerful instrumentals. There is also room for some vocals, which are always quite cool and innovative. They come in just at the right time, to add that unmistakable extra spice.

If you enjoy the “sloppy” groove made famous by producers like J Dilla, and the beautiful ambient textures of records like Moby’s Play, you can’t pass out on this one. Venus Afterburn really managed to bring the best of both worlds together, in a very effortless way.
