Drag Race puts tearful stories of bigotry-fueled rejection and trauma on mainstream American television to share the reality of the homophobia and transphobia that conservative ideology encourages, but it also showcases the fun and art and culture of drag. It shows all of these people dedicating themselves to their work and overcoming hardship to succeed and laughing together and fighting and creating bonds and supporting each other and creating found families when their biological ones shun them.
