Golden hour flatters her, silhouetting edges of gear and weaponry in a radiant aura and flickering like fire in the sun-bleached mane of her hair, sparking here and there where it catches one of the shell casings threaded in the braids. The evening is uncharacteristically still and there is no need to shield her eyes from dust; in only his company, she tends to push her goggles up to enjoy unimpeded vision. He’s not sure if it’s the setting sun or if her hellfire eyes outshine it, but she scans the distance with piercing gold. He wonders if this is what the Norse had in mind when they wrote about their Valkyries, or the Greeks when they envisioned Athena.

Hawk will exclusively use her tendrils to feed on infected — so she doesn’t actually know what zombies (or other BOWs) taste like. It’s like the gross, hunger-rage-construct version of holding your nose before you take a bite.

meet cute: you engage her in single combat and stab her in the guts, only for her to inform you that the human arrangement of her skeleton is merely a suggestion as she morphs into a nightmare amalgamation of eyes and so, so many teeth and consumes you whole and alive

As the influence of her infection heightens (and especially approaching/after the sixth stage, in verses where it happens), Hawk exerts a certain degree of control over lesser infected — that is to say, BOWs/zombies with less than human cognitive abilities. While not all of them are subject to this effect, those that ally with her — whether out of instinct, influence or basic self-preservation — will yield to her in the pursuit (and subsequent distribution) of prey.

While denying Hawk food/fuel is a viable strategy if you’re trying to reduce her strength, she’s almost certainly going to feign weakness long before she deteriorates to a point where she’s ineffective, luring an overzealous enemy into a “strike now” mentality with the threat of evasion or incoming Revenant reinforcements — which takes care of the starving issue and the threat all in one.
