How does Adobe CS6 work?
Adobe have been introducing the concept of the Creative Cloud for a little while now - it was Clive Radburn that first brought my attention to it a few months ago, and we had much chit-chat and conjecture about how it might work - and I've been keeping an eye on it ever since. Now Adobe have given it a fairly soft release (http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/creativesuite.html) I'm asking myself "How does Adobe CS6 work?"
I thought that Adobe would be only allowing access to their apps via a sign-in-licensed-account to their Creative Cloud, which I thought was a genius move on their part (and it appears they are, you can even get trial access for free https://creative.adobe.com/plans). You would create an account (for £XYZ a month or year) and then get access to your apps when you sign in. But I wondered about those without a juicy internet connection and how they would cope, even smart and funky businesses have issues with internet connections, depending on their location, and imagine studios with several guys and gals all using that same internet connection to work on content at the same time...hmmmm...
Having signed up for a trial version, it looks like you have access to the Creative Cloud (for free on a 30 day trial and for a monthly fee of $49pm or $29pm if you have an existing license above CS3). You then download the apps and have them installed on your local workstation or laptop. It would then appear that you can make use of the Creative Cloud to save and store your content and data (though I would read Adobe's T&C's on this very carefully on the 'Public' shared 'Your Content' facility - my take is that if you do you sign over all license rights to Adobe for them to use your content in any way they wish, even if it is IP or has an NDA).
Confused? Me too...maybe it will become a little clearer once we've had a few months and years of using the Creative Cloud...lets just hope that once everyone is in Adobe don't hike the subscription prices too high...only time will tell.
What's your experience with Adobe CS6 and the Creative Cloud? Let me know...
