Two assassins have been sent by the KNIL to Borneo to free Reiner D’Ozy-and were successful! After an intense battle, Reinier D’Ozy has now been freed and is safely on his way back home.

All Dutch officials were in disbelief when they heard the news that Reinier D'ozy was abducted for war crimes against the sultanate. With this, the Dutch have launched investigations with their trustworthy team. The Dutch have talked to locals and people around the area where Reinier D'ozy resides at along with the areas where she was claimed to have been committing war crimes against the sultanate. It was found that Reinier D'ozy IS NOT GUILTY. The Dutch are extremely angered at this and will take action immediately. 

14 August 1820 - Tengku Hussein has been coronated in the presence of the lords of the Johor Sultanate with the Temenggong at his right hand, taking the regnal name of Sultan Huzzein Shah.

A contingent sent by Sultan Sharif, nominal Sultan of Aceh, now the rump-state of Kutaraja, has conducted a daring last attack on the besieging army of Sultan Alauddin. The attack caught Alauddin’s army by surprise, and they managed to inflict major casualties on said army. Alauddin was able to flee with his guards, and was last seen on the road from Kutaraja to Pidie. In the aftermath of this retreat, Sharif has been able to regain control of several kampungs around Kutaraja. 

Furthering the tensions between Yogyakarta and Surakarta, following an assasination attempt on Sultan Susuhan Pakubuwono IV, Hamengkubuwono IV has launched an attack on Surakarta.  Yogyakarta’s troops have reached the capitol of Surakarta, wreaking havoc on Surakarta’s infrastructure along the way. Backed by the Dutch, Hamenkubuwono is utilising Dutch military powers to enter through Mangkunegeran’s border with Surakarta. Hamengkubuwono stands at the border of the capital, The future of Java is at a stand.

Bannerman has revoked Dutch permission to trade in Penang. The rest of the Governors of the EIC have not made such moves in the regions under their influence. However, the Dutch have ; British trade in Dutch regions is strictly not allowed.

The Bruneians have gotten their hands on Reiner D’ozy! He was abducted for war crimes against the Sultanate. Dutch officials are distraught that their newly elected leader could do such a thing. He was last seen in his residence on the night of 29 October and by dawn, the only thing that was left of him was his unique scarf. However, a note was left by the kidnappers, signed off by the Bruneian officials. 

Again, I am unbiased and only drawn to the better options.

With the continued inaction of the Dutch colonial administration, the Sultanate of Brunei has launched an invasion of the Dutch-occupied island of Borneo, which they see as rightfully Bruneian. With a force of 20000 men, they captured the Dutch vassal state of Kutai Kartanegara. The Dutch MUST respond immediately if they want to stay present in the aforementioned island. Because of the fact that they’re trying to get him convicted, Tengku Hussein has decided to use this pivotal moment to declare sovereignty and cast off all ties with the Dutch administration. The natives under his rule are neither supporting the Dutch nor Hussein, making it unclear: who rules Johor? (might it be Arthur Hayes?)

In a surprising turn of events, Sultan Hamengkubuwono IV has made an attempt to assassinate Susuhunan Pakubuwono IV! Looks like there is trouble in the newlyweds’ nest. As a result of these tensions, they have split back into Yogyakarta and Surakarta. After just two months of marriage, these two have divorced! Our hopes and dreams lie with them. Who knows what will happen between these two now?

Reports confirm a significant EIC military contingent, equipped from Penang’s armoury, has crossed into Kedah and occupied key positions in Alor Setar. The expedition is led by the ambitious Deputy Resident of Penang, Arthur Hayes, who claims to be acting on “urgent intelligence of an imminent threat to Kedah’s stability.” Bannerman appears to be genuinely blindsided and is absolutely furious, denying any prior knowledge or authorization of Hayes’ reckless adventure. EIC officials in Penang are divided on whether or not to support Hayes. The Sultan of Kedah is effectively a hostage. The Siamese Royal Court, already incensed by the Lingga accusations against the British, are enraged. Many within it are calling for a full-scale invasion of Penang as retaliation. Penang MUST react swiftly.

Sultan Alauddin has now fled to his makeshift camp at the edge of the capital. With such high risks, the one who strikes first will clinch victory and for all. Who shall it be?

Yogyakarta and Surakarta have announced their merger agreement today, reuniting the Mataram sultanate into one coherent polity again after the unnatural split brought about by the Dutch colonial government! People all over central and eastern Java rejoice at the reunion of their ancestral nation. In doing this, the Dutch government’s authority has been completely disregarded, and it remains a matter of time to see how the Dutch reacts to such a blatant move of disobedience from their client states.
