btw pisses me off that they ever tried to make Billy and Teddy have an open and honest discussion about their feelings. don’t lie to my fucking face no they would the fuck not. Billy “if I pretend like the twin brother I abandoned does not exist hard enough then I will be forgiven of all my sins of abandoning him” Kaplan and Teddy “yes my mother was burned alive in front of my very eyes but why would I ever deal with that when I can instead be reduced to an emotional wreck every time she is mentioned for the rest of ever” Altman? those two have never been emotionally honest a day in their fucking lives. emotionally vulnerable sure but never the fuck have they ever had a genuine discussion about their emotions. whenever they need to they just make out and pretend like that counts. do not even play with me bsf

highkey I miss when characters were just allowed to suck and be kind of shitty and selfish and irrational btw. like nowadays every character needs to be the picture perfect definition of a Good Person and whenever they act even slightly Not Good it’s followed immediately by them Apologizing and Admitting How Wrong They Are and promising to return to being a Good Person and it’s so fucking exhausting. characters used to just suck man. and I don’t mean characters whose entire deal is that they suck I mean just in general. like all characters used to be allowed to just be shitty and act irrationally and still be heroes and still be decent people. oh my god in the original YA run all of them are just shitty irrational teenagers doing shitty irrational things and they never make up for it because they’re just being people and now in W:WR Billy and Teddy have like three full pages of them apologizing to each other for having human emotions. it’s EXHAUSTING man therapy speak and modern martyrism is genuinely making comics so much worse why does everyone have to act 100% perfectly 100% rationally 100% ideally all of the time. can we please just let characters be shitty again. they’re still good people they don’t have to be Good People it’s okay. they can suck it makes the story better I’m begging u
