Doug never went through the Krakoan resurrection process.

He was revived back in 2010 in an X-Event called "Necrosha", which had Selene, life-force vampire/sorceress/Black Queen of the Hellfire Club, resurrect hundreds of dead mutants using a combination of corrupted Transmode Virus and black magic, and they were basically her loyal slaves as a result.

She resurrected Doug specifically and used him to attack the New Mutants, and in particular Amara Aqulla aka Magma (As Amara is related to Selene and Selene is incredibly petty about Amara refusing to let herself be killed for Selenes sake)

All of the resurrected corpses were basically insane under the thin veneer of rational thought that Slene allowed them.

But ultimately, Warlock (Using his pure version of the Transmode Virus, and the copy of Doug's memories and personality he'd saved inside himself every time they merged into Douglock) and Magik's soulsword (which doesn't harm living things, but does break spells), they were able to bring Doug back to himself, fully restored to life.

He was a bit traumatised at what Selene had made him do, but was no longer under anyone's control.

It's never been stated, but generally accepted, that it was due to the way the magic resurrection spell worked that Doug was brought back at the age he'd have been if he'd never died, rather than the age he did die. So he;s sort of in his early twenties rather than fifteen.

From then, up until Krakoa, he'd been on the New Mutants team, one version of X-Factor, and spent some time off by himself.

Xavier recruited him as one of the first, and most important, parts of the Krakoa project. Only Doug could speak to the island in it's own pure language and so he was responsible for both setting up diplomatic relations with the landmass, and the basic infrastructure of Krakoa.

including things like getting the island to grow new buildings instead of having to build them, and developing the new Krakoan language all mutants residents learned.

As Speaker for Krakoa, Doug was part of the Quiet Council, there to represent the Islands opinions, which he usually did whilst sitting in the branches of Krkao's main presence.

By this point Warlock was secretly sort of hiding inside Doug, serving as his right arm (long story)

During the "X of Swords" event, Doug was, much to everyone's surprise, picked as one of the ten swordbearers of Krakoa, with Warlock serving as his sword, of course. Though almost uniquely unsuited to the role, he went ahead with it as he wouldn't allow anyone else to take the risk for him.

When the tournament started, almost none of the events were the expected swordfights.

Doug's first challenge was a very odd one... he has to marry Bei the Blood Moon, the warrior woman of Arakko who is the only person Doug has ever met whose language he cannot understand.. at all.

And, it should be known, they actually do fall hopelessly in love with each other and are still an almost sickeningly devoted married couple.

Since the Fall of Krakoa, he's now become the officially chosen Heir of Apocalypse with a bit of a glow up so he's taller, stronger, and much harder to injure, as well as an added active component to his power:

So, when he uses this power, no one can disobey him, no matter what it is he tells them to do.

He also has a new codename; Revelation.

That's Bei killing the soldier from offpanel, not Doug, but if Doug had told the soldier to shoot himself, he would have done immediately.

We've just had a whole event called "Age of Revelation" where we see the future timeline where Doug as Revelation basically takes over the X-Men, then sets in motion events which lead to future going to crap very quickly, with him as a probably pretty darned insane tyrant and overlord for a good chunk of North America. He actually does achieve his, absolutely horrific, goal though, so... y'know... go Doug.
