If you’re curious about what one of Yana Toboso’s likely inspirations for the murder arc (Book of Murder) was, watch “The Speckled Band,” (S01E06) of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (the one with Jeremey Brett, who partly inspired Sebastian’s disguise/name).

As you can see, Brett’s costume was likely designed based on the original illustrations and Yana clearly used one or both as inspiration for Sebastian’s outfit while he plays the role of “Jeremy the Vicar.”
