ok so i have no idea how submissions works so here

(for context, gemma is a south park oc who is the older sister of helen burch, timmy's mom)

and first art request as well omg

I absolutely LOVE how Matt Stone and Trey Parker treat Timmy and Jimmy as characters within the South Park universe. In my opinion they are two of the most important representations of disabled people in media, ESPECIALLY for a show that came out in the late 90s and has existed through every offensive "dudebro" humor trend from '97 to now and has never shied away from edgy writing (albeit in a clever way that most edgy dudebro comedies just miss the mark on).

I'm not disabled (at least not in the way Jimmy and Timmy are) but I still absolutely love them because the show treats them just like "one of the guys". They're written just like all of the other kids in South Park, and virtually all of their episodes and storylines aren't centered around being disabled.

Even the ones that are, like Cripple Fight or Krazy Kripples, they aren't just reduced to their disabilities, and the real humor comes from the ridiculous situations they find themselves in (like accidentally joining the Crips, or beating the shit out of each other while the rest of the town watches). In fact the show even CALLS OUT this kind of thinking in the episode Timmy 2000.

And all of their other episodes, they can be swapped out with any of the other kids; Jimmy getting addicted to steroids, Timmy inventing an Uber competitor resulting in Wacky Races coming back, the Comedy Awards episode.

If you want a lesson on how to write good representation, watch South Park and pay attention to how they treat Jimmy and Timmy. The first thing I think of when I think of Jimmy isn't the fact that he's disabled, it's the fact that he's a stand-up comedian who runs the school newspaper and believes in freedom of speech so much he told PC Principle to suck his dick, and Timmy is just one of the boys in the same way that Craig or Clyde or Tolkien is (and of course the absolutely iconic Timmy and The Lords of the Underworld).

They're written like real, 3-dimensional people.

And it's not just Jimmy and Timmy, South Park has a long history of handling disabilities well. Highly recommend looking up the bts of their tourettes episode (also I can't believe they predicted people faking having tourettes, which is unfortunately something I see all the time on tiktok, but that's nothing new) because it really is heartwarming.

I think that's why it means so much to me, you would think that Matt Stone and Trey Parker and South Park would be the kind of show that punches down on people with disabilities and makes them the butt of jokes or just walking stereotypes, but from the very beginning they've had more compassion and understanding for disabled people and characters and treated them like real people, more so than a lot of "progressive" media.

• Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld broke up right after Cripple Fight. This is because the band members had constant arguments with each other

• His wheelchair teddy is named Henry

• Likes to watch music videos of songs he likes

• Can read and write in French, as well as listen to and understand French being spoken

• Hangs out with Jimmy every 2 weeks

• Hates when people touch him without asking (especially on the shoulder)

• Timmy set up special area for him in his room. In this, he has a comfy bed, a food bowl, a drink bowl, a small bath tub, and some posters of him and Timmy

• Is one of Timmy's things that he cuddles when feeling down

• Richard and Helen were shocked at first because they now had a wild pet turkey, but overtime grew to love him

• Loves going out in the backyard

• Sometimes, he is noisy at night. This annoys the family so they wear earplugs when he makes loud noises
