Rewatched the Pitt both seasons and like maybe I was crazy or just overwhelmed during the first watch but a lot of the male characters are kinda misogynistic. I donāt think think it is intentional on their part (the characters Iām optimistic from a writing standpoint that itās very intentional) but itās so crazy to me how a lot of the stuff Iāve noticed just went over my head or was just so slight that itās easy to excuse it ļæ¼
really?? iāve never watched the Pitt but iāve heard about some of the couples i think? mainly the sapphic ones, unless iām thinking of another show.
there is for sure a lot of subtle misogyny in media these days š itās hard to pick up on it until you hear one a little more blatant and youāre like āhold onā¦ā i hope theyāre just misunderstanding words/phrases (or however the misogyny is happening in the show), but i have doubts about a popular show not knowing what not to say.
Idk if anyone has ever said this before but I feel the need to.
I ADORE the way you write about queerness in IHHU! And the way itās so clearly different between Cassandra and the farmer.
Cassandra who only knows the village and the (likely) love and acceptance from her family, who has likely never known any kind of queerphobia and if she has she doesnāt remember. Everything is just so normal to her, but I suspect her hesitance when the farmer was first coming onto her to be her awkwardness with never having dealt with such things before.
AND THE FARMER⦠Someone who was raised outside the village and likely faced queerphobia of some kind (and maybe thatās why they prefer to be so isolated?) throughout their life and has learned what a lot of queer folks do: that you are predatory and wrong simply for existing. Their hesitance to admit they have feelings for Cassandra doesnāt stem only from her violent attitude, but also from the fact the farmer has just made an unlikely friend and does not want to ruin it by saying they have a little crush on her.
On top of that, the thing I love the most is something I rarely see but when itās done well it makes me so emotional. The fact that the farmer doesnāt have many friends, doesnāt socialize (or hasnāt been properly socialized as a child, for a few reasons), and yet who was the first person to accept them for who and what they are? Who accepted them without question? The LITERAL CANNIBAL. I know that queerness is often labeled as bad and wrong and ties in with things like vampirism, but I love the way youāve described all of this.
Anyway, all this to say I love the way you have crafted this world to be similar to ours but also so different. I find the farmer very relatable as a person for so many things they do/let happen. I could go on and on but for now I will leave you with this. Iām so excited to see what else you have in store ā¤ļø
AAAAA THANK YOU SO MUCH!! iāve done my best to integrate āmodernā (as IHHU isnāt actually modern times) ideas on queerness into my writing. Farmer, whose grandfather had other things to worry about than his very visibly queer grandkid, has likely been isolated from their peers in the way iāve noticed a lot of queer people are. itās like cis/het people just kinda know ? like the vibe they get that you are different from them, though Farmerās is a for a few reasons, for sure.
(spoilers under the cut, do not read further if youāre not up-to-date in IHHU)
iāve tried to add some allegory (?) to queerness with the whole mold thing going on. itās been revealed that Farmer was infected when they were a child, and one of my headcanons is that mold-/cadou-infected people come across a little⦠uncanny, maybe. so even if Farmer was not completely infected, they still were, and people could get that feeling that they were different and perhaps āwrongā.
and i think the infection part ties in with queerness pretty well, too. in my personal experience, though iām unsure if this would have been similar in rural Romania in the 70s, a lot of people act like queerness itself is an infection and something they can catch. thatās not the case for the mold or for simply being queer, but with the looks of disgust and the way people will actively move away from you if they get the hint youāre not ānormalā? itās like they know something is wrong with you - queer, cold, mold-infection, the works - and want nothing to do with you.
anyway, i have definitely tried to make Cassandra and Farmer have different experiences with it, too. Cass is fully accepted by her family for who she is, for both her identity and occupation (lol), and sheās never had to fear expressing herself, you know? no one would dare say anything, anyway. sheās just really awkward once you get to know her. sheās inexperienced!
whereas Farmer does have a typical queer upbringing, itās just not something talked about, but everyone kinda knows. Farmer prefers the isolation of the farm because people have always disappointed them or have been outwardly cruel to them for existing. animals donāt care who they are (unless youāre mold-infected) and apparently, neither does a bug-swarm cannibal.
i do absolutely love supernatural creatures or people being used as an allegory for queerness and iām so glad iāve at least partially done it well :ā) it might be something i touch up on later in the story, but i also want to leave some stuff up to interpretation. and in my own interpretation, everyone in the nearby town knows about Farmerās queerness (in my head they are more masc-leaning and unapologetic about it) but they donāt acknowledge it. they donāt check up on Farmer not because their farm is too far, but because of their own biases and ideas for what isnāt āthe normā.
anyway. iāve been rambling and i deeply apologize. i could go on and on for HOURS about IHHU and all the little details iāve put in there, but i will save you all the insanity for now. thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!! <3

In Her Heart Undying
To Promise the Moon: Act I / Act II / Act III / Finale
I think Miranda is a fascinating complex character. Itās to the point I wonder if in the afterlife if there is one in lore what her interactions with Eva would be like if she met her.
Would she live up to the idea Miranda had in her head or would Eva hold her accountable to her actions and if Eva did would Miranda confront her guilt and wrongdoings or claim Eva is nothing but a illusion meant to torture her
I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS ON THIS.
i donāt know that it says anything in the lore as to whether or not Miranda does see Eva again, but i have some thoughts. as far as canon goes, my interpretation is that Miranda is so far gone, even if she got Eva back and she looked/acted like herself, she wouldnāt recognize her daughter. i think she has this image in her mind of what their family could be and how Eva would look, but she wouldnāt actually recognize Eva.
as far as other thoughts, they go one of two ways:
1. Miranda and Eva DO meet again in a stratum of the megamycete. Eva is, perhaps, a little afraid of this Miranda, but accepts her all the same, like a āfeelingā she has that this is her mother. they are finally together again.
1.a. (which version of Miranda would Eva even see in the megamycete? pre- or post-infection? which version of post-infection? so many thoughts and more)
2. Evaās consciousness is not even in the megamycete for some reason, and though Miranda can try and try, sheās never going to see her again. if infected peopleās consciousnesses are trapped in the megamycete, Eva is unlikely to be there and is instead used as leverage against Miranda.
i love how complex she is and how much deeper her lore can go!! i really wish they wouldāve done more with the megamycete and its capabilities :(
