SPOILERS FOR IHHU CH.15 (for those who haven't read it)
the new IHHU noggins have certainly been eating at my brain 😫
yearnssandra is such a dork for tying a note containing a drawn heart on the sheep :) your honour, she's a dorky, cannibalistic woman made out of flies who's in love LMAO. and her annoying the farmer by misplacing tools and animals, while incredibly annoying and inconvenient, it's entirely in character for our fellow yearnssandra hahahaha. just Cassandra Dimitrescu being unapologetically Cassandra Dimitrescu.
I've been having this thought since chapter 14, how there's a voice in the back of the farmer's head, and it gave me the sense that what if that voice belongs to the "previous" farmer who failed to break the loop, and manifested into the "voice" of the current farmer who's restarting the loop? when I meant "previous", I just meant the same farmer, but restarting the entire loop again (like in TPtM, where there are many versions of birdie, but they, at their core, are just the birdie, but experiencing a different loop, until the current one broke free from the cycle) or maybe the voice is just the farmer's subconsciousness after having experienced different time loops. because this is a new start, maybe that's why the farmer developed this subconscious voice in their head since this farmer in this loop could potentially be the one who will break the cycle (as mentioned by Miranda, where it's the farmer who keeps them in the cycle if I remember correctly, and she wishes for them to break it too).
this is fueled further by the fact that whenever the farmer finds themself in the same situation as the previous time loop (especially when they encounter Cassandra), the voice would always advise them what to do. it's like the voice is trying to dictate farmer's actions in hopes of changing certain situations and trying to break the loop if certain things play out differently than in the previous one.
furthermore, the voice constantly speaks about Cassandra as if it knows her by heart. “She's not going to hurt you.”, “You always will.” and “She'll come back, if it's for you.” it all sorts of points to the "previous" farmer, guiding the current one in this loop. especially how the voice would remind the farmer how “You're running out of time.”, it could point to the fact that the farmer has to act quickly to find a way to break this cycle and prevent Cassandra's death, which is the catalyst of some sort.
ALSO, this recent chapter actually opened my eyes to this new fact: how did the dead maid find the farmer's farm?
I skimmed over this when IHHU first released and before the second act was uploaded at first. but now, after the voice brought it up, a chill genuinely ran down my spine when I read that. how did the dead woman find the farmer's farm that wasn't part of the Dimitrescus' territory? the farm was close, yes, but it wasn't exactly part of their land. only the Dimitrescus daughters would bother going to the remote farm to pester the farmer's grandfather. so how did the maid know where to run to? how did she know which trail would lead to the farm? Moreover, her dead body was gone... it said that there were bloody footprints, but no body. the prints were also facing away from the body and not towards it... just like you mentioned, as if the dead woman got up and walked back home, despite the fact that Cassandra had slit her throat.
it suddenly made me entertain the theory that the maid was Miranda in disguise. while this is far fetched, but when I think about it, it feels like the loop always fails with Cassandra's death being the sort of "catalyst" to it all (forgive me if I didn't word it properly), and it's like the loop would always restart with Cassandra chasing the maid down and killing her, right in front of farmer, on their farm. but as pointed out, how did the "dead" woman know where to run to, in order to find the farm and "get away" from Cassandra? and where did her body go? it's like Miranda was disguising herself as the maid and leading Cassandra to the farm, getting them to meet and hence the loop officially begins anew. afterwards, she'd just up and leave because farmer and Cassandra were engaged in a life or death fight, so who would even bother with the dead body of a mere maid anyways? definitely not Cassandra. besides, this version of Miranda is the same ruthless one who would do anything to bring her daughter back and break out of this cycle. it's not the first time we've seen Miranda disguised as someone else in order to infiltrate the farmer's life.
honestly, this is a very WILD theory, but I just wanted to share this crazy thought with you regardless of how ridiculous this is. i must sound like a madwoman dissecting every single thing... but I can't help it when it comes to your stories nix HAHAHAHA
but it's interesting as to why the farmer never knew of their grandfather chasing away the Dimitrescus. while you could chalk it up to the farmer being able to sleep better when they were younger, I have a feeling that it isn't necessarily the case. but we'll just have to see where this story will take us, since you're cooking something up for Act II
it's honestly such a fun read and I'm excited to see where this story will go and how certain situations would play out now since they won't entirely be the same. and since in the start of Act II, Cassandra already has a sort of inkling that the farmer is tainted by the mold, much earlier on than in Act I, i feel like. and I wonder when the farmer would finally realize that they are stuck in a loop once more.
hope you're doing well and thank you for entertaining my unhinged thoughts once again :3
UGH I LOVE ALL OF THESE THOUGHTS!!! i will go ahead and say that there are still several things that have yet to be revealed, and others are red herrings. we’ll learn what is what soon enough :3
ANYWAY. i’ll try to answer as much as i can without spoiling any future chapters, but trust that you are close with a couple theories hehe
first of all, i absolutely love Cassandra, your honor. it’s the way she immediately had a thing for Farmer because of their actions when they first met (and how well they could fight against her). and now her way of showing her affection is by annoying the fuck out of her beloved. she’s so funny.
the voice in Farmer’s head is an interesting part of Act II… i can’t yet reveal what/who it is, but i can say that it’ll only get worse as we go. but isn’t it so handy that the voice made Farmer think about the dead woman and how improbable it is that she found the exact “safe” path to the farm while running from Cassandra?
but again, it’s not so simple as “dead woman might be Miranda to lead Cassandra and Farmer together”. if you remember in a previous chapter, Farmer had a dream that Cassandra killed them with the line, “I don’t lose, farmer.” this WAS a previous loop, and it was just Farmer. no maid. maybe that’ll convolute your theories a little more :3 but there is a reason for everything, even if it’s meant to mislead you or be revealed much later. hehe.
BUT I LOVE THAT YOU DISSECT EVERYTHING!! it makes me feel a lot better about changing the smallest things or adding something i think will be taken as nothing, only for you to be like, “WAIT THIS DETAIL IS SUS” I LOVE IT.
thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!!! i’m going to try my best to get all my lore/timelines straight and continue writing at some point today :D knowing you’re enjoying the fic this much has helped me IMMENSELY with wanting to write more for them.
