I support the "fiction isn't real so nothing matters" mindset but tbf at a certain point it can tip over into "the curtains are just blue" territory

like yes actually there is a conversation to be had about how a characters actions are framed and how they thematically fit with the rest of the story and it can in fact reflect the author's beliefs. some authors are even trying to make a point

not all depiction is glorification but sometimes it is and you need to be able to tell the difference. not because your immortal soul will be tainted by reading The Bad One, but because you need to have reading comprehension skills

was at the public pool yesterday and i kept looking around at all the women with fat and rolls and stretch marks and discolouration and cellulite and scars and thighs that bounce and bellies that jiggle and it's like wow. literally Everyone has these features that society is trying to convince us are evil and unnatural. idk it just really put things into perspective for me. highly recommend checking out your local public pool

I tried makeup for a while in college but I could tell it was actually making my dysphoria *worse* because I'd feel alright about myself but then take it off at the end of the day and I'd see my face without makeup and suddenly be hit by how ugly I felt without it and I was like oh. this doesn't seem healthy. so I swore it off and threw it all out and now my bare face doesn't really bother me anymore. I want to feel good about myself at all hours of the day, actually
