long story short i just had my 2nd brain doc visit and i still do not have brain meds due to the pharmacy once again fucking up my insurance, which is literally the entire reason i had to stop taking them years ago in the first place!!!!!!!!!

he said he'd "never seen anything like this" when he checked the system to see the status. and i just laughed because yeah. i tried to warn you. i'm cursed.

pharmacy a is close to my house, so it's where the prescription was sent last time. apparently they had the wrong insurance on file, so when the 1st scrip hit them they just auto-rejected it (without telling me or the office or anyone!!!!)

the doc sent a scrip to pharmacy b today, figuring they would have no problem filling it and i'll figure out my preferred pharmacy's deal in the meantime

(i did i went straight there and gave them the insurance card/confirmed my contact info/etc)

so it's been a couple hours i go to check on pharmacy b to see if the scrip is ready for pickup yet or if i'll have to wait until tomorrow

they don't have any record of any prescriptions being sent

made sure the pharmacy has my up-to-date insurance. had the doc resend the scrip. still showing rejected/cancelled.

i don't know what the fuck to do!!!!!!!!!! i have insurance, and it includes prescription coverage! i have a diagnosis on my chart that indicates these meds! i have a prescriber willing to let me have them! what the fuck is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i don't know! i don't fucking know!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i set up an account with a third pharmacy, made sure they have my current up-to-date insurance beforehand, and had the doc send the scrip over.

same exact thing, not a single sign that anything was ever sent over or requested!!!!!!

i logged into the insurance website, they see my active insurance and the two visits to this doc i've made, but zero indications that any prescriptions were ordered! i called them and the agent confirmed that a) all three pharmacies are within network, b) they don't cover the brand name but they do cover the generic, and c) they can't see any denials or pending prior-auth requests

what the fuck is going on!!!!!!! it should not be this fucking hard!!!!!!!!!!!!

i literally ended up sobbing in frustration. i guess i won't have meds. what other option do i have at this point?

i sent one last desperate email saturday, after verifying my "should be fine" status on every single website & phone number i have access to. i fully expected the doc to say "sorry" and then i'd have to cancel our next appt and find somewhere else (who would probably want to start over with a re-diagnosis since it's been a couple years and in hindsight i don't think i had any formal evaluation/testing??? the doc at the time was just like "hey you seem adhd as hell to me let's try drugs" ?? idk how any of that works)

and this morning i got a text from the pharmacy - did i want to save this prescription for later or pick it up today?

i have meds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the problem was not me or the insurance or the pharmacies chosen but the doc's system, he tried a secondary portal and for whatever reason that went through successfully when none of the others had??????????? which is what i was suspicious of when the third unrelated pharmacy rejected the scrip without so much as any indication it had ever reached them in the first place

i found what i can only describe as "a ball of flesh" in the back yard yesterday....

the dogs were out for long enough that i was suspicious (maggie will happily stay outside for hours, tucker normally barks to come in within ten minutes), so i went to check on them. sure enough, they're intently nosing & pawing at something on the ground. i call them in and go out to check what it is

and i still don't know?????? i can identify a lot of animals by sight even after they've been roadkilled; this had clearly been at one time an animal of some sort but all distinguishing features were not there. no limbs, no head, no fur or feathers or scales- but the part that really threw me is that the limbs etc didn't seem to be nibbled away, i couldn't see any blood or wounds, they were simply not there. what was there was a more-or-less smooth ball of something fleshy. it was so weird and so disconcerting. i was tempted to grab a stick and poke at it until i'd figured it out, but doing that would upset my mom and also it was starting to rain, so i just bagged it for the trash.

my best guess is some kind of mouse or vole/mole that somehow lost its fur and maybe the wounds from missing limbs were just not noticeable, but idk!!!

Graced by Geckolepis typica from Madagascar. I love that they’re quite round creatures and then they have these dainty little toes. Also, their scales are full bone and both scale and skin come off when they get grabbed, which is…unpleasant. Consequently, catching these geckos for research without damaging them requires special techniques. 19th century researchers used bundles of cotton wool, but I imagine this wasn’t very effective, because cotton still has a lot of friction and the friction would pull the skin and scales off. In my (quite extensive) experience, the best technique is to carefully and quickly flick the geckos from their tree trunk or branch into an open dry plastic bag using a finger or stick.
