the kind of fool only an errand could love

tagged by @h4bit to post 6 faceless photos! i don't think i've ever posted a photo to this account before, actually.

i spent a while going through my camera roll, turns out that i pretty much just take photos of bugs, weird footprints, and work-related things. scrolled back to the start of june and they were all like this.

leaf mines on what i had written down as a hedge blackberry leaf, but i think that was transposed from another photo - this looks more like american hazelnut.

unknown red fungus(??) growing on part of a deer vertebra that i had buried for ~4 months. if anyone has an idea for what the red stuff is, i'd love to know more! there are papers out there on mammal cadaver decomposition sequences, but they're a bit opaque to me.

bald-faced hornet!!!! <3 not sure what shrub this was

slug/snail trail (little green-white shiny streak) on a sheetweb. seen this a few times lately, it's been driving me crazy - i guess they can just traverse???? webs????????? and it's a non-issue? haven't been able to find anything about this online, if anyone knows anything about it please hmu.

dead, and apparently somewhat molded-over, moth of unknown species - next to an opened (spider?) egg sac, inside an elk vertebra that had sat on my exterior bedroom windowsill overwinter.

yellowjacket/hornet nest, high in a horse chestnut tree! not totally sure about ID, it doesn't look scalloped enough for maculata but it's surprisingly difficult to find resources for differentiating "yellowjacket" nests. (which is a group of like 17 species, lol.)

that's pretty normal for weird bookish kids, but what's interesting to me is that i'm often (like, a few times a year) read as having a very "tumblr" sense of humor or way of talking. and tumblr is obviously a nonzero influence on how i think and talk (i put in my hours at the echoalia clearinghouse like everyone else.)
