The chaos buds: the storyโs golden trio
Info: Casey is an energetic sophomore who is perceived as rather weird and quirky by his peers. He loves fantasy stories, especially old myths and legends; like the original fairy tales such as the Grimmโs brothers fairy tales. He often gets caught up in his ideas, leading to consistent maladaptive daydreaming. Despite having a normally upbeat personality, he longs to be understood.
Hobbies/extracurriculars: exploration, tech theater, writing, stargazing, reading, and playing video games with Mae
Bonus fun fact for funsies: Caseyโs room is filled with Maeโs water color paintings

Ethnicity: German American
Info: Mae is Caseyโs best friend and his partner in crime. Despite living on the other side of the county, the two see each other almost every weekend. Mae is much more calm and collected compared to his energetic friend. To most people, he comes off as aloof and cold, which he is (to a degree). Heโs not much of a people person, he has Casey as a friend, and thatโs all he really wants. Deep down, Mae is terribly scared that Casey will get bored of him and leave him alone. Fortunately Casey would never do that.
Upon Caseyโs discovery of the Terrans, Mae is initially shocked (and slightly concerned) but at core, Mae is a giant nerd just like Casey and the two do all they can do to understand the various artifacts, creatures, and sites they discover.
Background: Mae was born with a condition called Spastic Diplegia, a form of cerebal palsy primarily affecting his legs. He has limited balance and coordination and uses crutches to get around, sometimes a wheelchair when he's tired. He is highly analytical and excels at problem-solving; usually the guy Casey runs to when he needs any form of mathematical help.
Hobbies/extracurriculars: photography, watercoloring, and dabbles in computer sciences and culinary arts. Also enjoys making Casey play horror games.

Species: Avian (Barn owl)
Class: Sophomore (maybe freshman)
Info: Leif is an Avian, a species originally from the planet Terra, though, born on Earth. His true form is alien and bird-like, but these traits are cloaked by the Mist. He was Caseyโs first proper โcryptid discoveryโ, being found in some form of stasis within the Sealing Grounds. After being freed, Casey takes him home and tries to figure out what to do with him.
Despite the shocking situation, Leif adapts to his new surroundings surprisingly well, though he struggles with finding out what to do with his life, especially now that the earth he grew up on is in the distant past.
Heโs much sportier than both Casey and Mae, he doesnโt have much of a filter, and he is creeped out by most arcane arts. Much like Casey, Leif is extremely curious, when they come up with ideas, 9 times out of 10 it leads to chaos, much to Maeโs dismay.
In reality, Leif doesnโt have a last name but he took on the Hawthorne last name as an attempt to fit in legallyโฆ (this will be explained more later)
Seeing as he doesnโt do much during the pilot I donโt wanna spoil too much so limited Leif info sorryyyy
Hobbies: making atrocious food combinations, flying, learning about human culture

Ethnicity: American/Puerto Rican
Info: David is one of Caseyโs closest and longest friends, second only to Mae. David has had a secret crush on Casey for as long as he could remember and has tried confessing various times, but Casey is stupid. The Brookes family has been close friends with Caseyโs family due to Lauren being coworkers with Davidโs mom. He acts as leader of the school trio who will be introduced later. Generally a very calm and caring person, basically a mom friend.
David loves working out in nature, he wants to either ski professionally or work for the national parks when he graduates, he already works at a nearby ski resort during winters, offering ski lessons for kids.
Hobbies/extracurriculars: skiing, hiking, playing guitar, birdwatching

Info: Caseyโs mother, who is a bit of a workaholic and is rather strict with Casey, not realizing that she may have impacted her son negatively. Sheโs not evil, but flawed. Sheโs often not at home, working at her law firm. Sheโs incredibly successful and makes most decisions monetarily based. Sheโs not in favor of Caseyโs hobbies and interests except for tech theatre, knowing that AV stuff gets a bunch of money.
