Draco followed Harry happily to their table. Sometimes it took her by surprise how easy it was now, being out with him, holding his hand, their light, easy conversation. It was wonderful
Slipping into her seat and looking over the menu, Draco had many things to keep in mind - they were in public for anyone to see. So an alcoholic drink she could sip. Not whiskey - that was a “man’s drink.” And a meal that she could eat just as daintily.
She was so conditioned to this thought that it nearly made her laugh. The only time she didn’t go through this exact thought process was on pub nights she’d gone out with old friends - before Pansy had moved back into their lives and Blaise had settled down, the rest of them following - and she could drink anything she could get her hands on while shoving anything fried into her mouth. Those had been different nights, nights when things were still so, so bad and Blaise was always there to take care of her.
Looking back up, Draco scoffed at his words, playing offended. “Merlin, you need training. You’re supposed to tell me how I’m so beautiful no matter what I do.” She retorted, clearly teasing, even as her fingers brushed the edges of her hair, as if afraid her pre-teen mistake was suddenly going to reappear. “And of course I’ve done something to warrant it, but they know that revenge is my specialty. They know better.”
Looking back up at the waitress as she reappeared, Draco decided on just asking for their soup of the day as well as a glass of chardonnay, giving her a warm smile and handing the menu back before she directed her attention to her male companion once more.
“Flying sounds perfect.” She hummed, giving a nod. “Yes, I think we should definitely take advantage of the weather while we can.”
Harry looked up and blinked innocently at her. “The fact that you’re beautiful regardless what you do is a fact that goes without saying.” He turned his gaze upwards in thought. “Except when you display that beastly temper.” He clucked and shook his head before refocusing his attention to her face.
He ordered fish and chips, knowing she’d snag some chips through the meal. And he added a hearty salad to split as an appetizer.Â
“I have a few new brooms I need to grade.” Harry grinned at her. “From my recall, you had a lot of fun doing that last time.”
