Pinot Grigio
Hey Guys! I hope you all had a great Easter holiday and are keeping well. I’m going to dive right into the wine review for this week.
This was my introduction to the Pinot grigio varietal and I must say it made a great impression on me. Bare in mind that I am a white wine girl, so my opinion may be a little bit biased (lol)
Pinot grigio is a dry white wine with white peach, lemon zest, raw almonds and spicy primary flavors. It is a medium-light bodied wine that can be enjoyed with a fresh salad and white meat like chicken or seafood.
I had the Protea Pinot grigio over the course of the week and it reminded me of why I fell in love with wine in the first place. This wine is so versatile and ever evolving. I got a burst of lemon on the first tasting and because of its high acidity, the taste will improve as the wine ages. A spicy flavour was evident a few days later, which to me is a mind blowing characteristic about wine. It is alive and changes with each day. I love how crisp and light the wine is. It didn’t over power my tongue, meaning I could enjoy as many glasses as I wanted (lol)
To taste the wine at its best, serve it chilled (7-12 degrees C) on its own or with a light meal.
It retails at less than R100 and it is absolute value for your money. I’ll definitely be stocking up on this baby again soon.
Let me know what you think of it on any of my socials (@kabelo_matekane) or by email [email protected] and Please drink responsibly
