fearsome fangs friday!!!!!!!!!! bite everyone
sorry but i dont think my father refusing to let me be nonbinary or a guy just so he could comfortably continue to treat me like his second wife instead of his child was "just transphobia" or "misdirected misogyny"
that's transandrophobic violence and it completely destroyed and ruined my entire life, my health, my future. i almost died a few times, either by his hands or my own. all to train me to be his doting little girl-servant-wife-laborer-nurse-thing. i was punished for being masculine.
but anyone on the outside just saw a hysterical little girl, even when i became an adult. and now, now, NOW. even after surviving all that, i had to claw myself out of self-hatred for being a transneutral guy.
not because of my father, but because other trans people said pain like mine wasn't real, and i was the bad guy for even suggesting that it was.
and atp i am just fucking furious about it. what about this isn't "that bad?" im not the only one to go through this??? especially with intimate partner violence???
sorry i'm still going on about this but ultimately arguing that noelle can't be a trans guy because she's important lesbian representation is an argument that you can never have a straight/bi trans guy that transitions in serial media because people will get attached to him as a sapphic character and it would be "unfair" and "problematic" to "take away" that representation after "establishing" his "sapphic sexuality" as "an important and integral part of his character". it's also an argument that straight/bi trans guys never look like lesbians from the outside even a little bit, that lesbianism is the default and therefore only correct interpretation of a pre-transition closeted trans guy who likes a girl, etc.
like of course noelle telling off her mom for not accepting her attraction to susie looks like a teenage lesbian asserting herself. of course you relate to it. it's an experience many queer girls go through. it is also, and you are absolutely no ally to trans people if you cannot recognize this, an experience many trans guys go through. being sexualized by adult men as a teenager is something many trans guys go through, being treated as a disposable "side chick" is something many trans guys go through, feeling stifled by gender expectations is something pretty much all trans guys go through. if noelle was a trans guy it would not make these experiences nonsensical or less meaningful to depict in fiction. i'm sorry that not every fictional character you have something in common with and like to project onto is going to be your gender and have your exact identity and life story but you need to get over it because i cannot take another day of this
every now n then i think about how native americans as human beings just dont exist in like 99% of mainstream media. in movies or tv shows or books or video games or you know even in porn like we just arent people. when theres a native character theyre like a wild west indian. like truly to ppl we all died back in the 1900s.
lol yes i work in dementia care and i have one woman who will go on and on about how she loves indians and theyre so nice and have such fancy clothes and jewelry and dances. and another guy when i said im from oklahoma nodded and went "indian country! a lot of indians there" and i said "and im one of them!"
two characters who absolutely Will Not say "i love you" trying to tell each other that they love one another is so good actually. more of that please

pls support trans girls and trans women who like traditionally masculine things
no seriously please reblog this ive seen so many posts saying to support trans boys and trans men who like traditionally feminine things and those posts are good!! i love them!!
but i have never in my life seen a post saying to support masculine trans girls and trans women or trans girls and trans women who like traditionally masculine things and its really important to understand that showing support for trans women in any form is just as important as showing support for trans men so please, please reblog this.
support trans women and trans girls. support trans women and trans girls who like traditionally masculine things. trans women and trans girls who like traditionally masculine things are not any less valid than trans women and trans girls who donât!!
Her name is Olayemi Olurin and you can find the video here where she goes into what virtue mirroring is around 8 minutes in.
every day i walk into work and my manager says âhere is the rule you must enforceâ and i go âgot it bossmanâ and i spend a couple days enforcing the rule and then my manager comes up to me and says âwhy are you enforcing the rule? we changed the rule yesterday and didnât tell youâ and i go âok bossman new rule it isâ and then a customer comes in asking to break the new rule and i say âsorry you canât itâs the ruleâ and they say âbut you donât understand the rule doesnât apply to meâ and then my manager comes out and says âtheyâre right the rule doesnât apply to themâ and i ask why and my manager says âit just doesnât.â and then the next day we get rid of the rule entirely and no one remembered it existed in the first place.
anyway this sounds like a metaphor for neurodivergence or something but itâs not this is just my fucking life
telling someone they can't be sad because others have it worse is a habit people need to stop
Writing a novel when you imagine all you stories in film format is hard because thereâs really no written equivalent of âlens flareâ or âslow motion montage backed by Gregorian choirâ
You can get the same effect of a lens flare with close-detail descriptions, combined with breaks to new paragraphs.
Your slow-motion montage backed by a Gregorian choir can be done with a few technques that all involve repetition.
First is epizeuxis, the repeating of a word for emphasis.
Example:
Falling. Falling. Falling. There was nothing to keep Marie from plunging into the rolling river below. She could only hope for a miracle now, that she would come out alive somehow despite a twenty-foot drop into five-foot-deep water.
Then thereâs anaphora, where you write a number of phrases with the same words at the beginning.
There were still mages out there living in terror of shining steel armor emblazoned with the Sword of Mercy.
There were still mages out there being forced by desperation into the clutches of demons.
There were mages out there being threatened with Tranquility as punishment for their disobedience, and the threats were being made good upon.
Mages who had attempted to flee, but knew nothing of the outside world and were forced to return to their prison out of need for sustenance and shelter.
Mages who only desired to find the families they were torn from.
Mages who only wanted to see the sun.
This kind of repetition effectively slows the pace of your writing and puts the focus on that small scene. Thatâs where you get your slow pan. The same repetition also has a subtle musicality to it depending on the words you use. Thatâs where you get the same vibe as you might get from a Gregorian choir.
Damn I made relatable reblog- bait post and writer Tumblr went hard with it. This is legitimately very good advice.Â
For more neat tricks (aka figures of rhetoric) like epizeuxis and anaphora, read THE ELEMENTS OF ELOQUENCE by Mark Forsyth. Itâs both educational and delightful, not to mention overflowing with wry wit. Great book.Â

i miss the old tumblr days when we would spend hours on our laptops customizing themes to make our blogs look aesthetically pleasing. back then your tumblr page felt like a reflection of your personality and now that itâs mostly mobile based, everyone sees the same layout. a lot of the creativity and individuality that made tumblr so fun feels lost
