"lock in" is probably one of the most important phrases to enter the public lexicon in the 2020s
happy nonbinary awareness week! one simple fact to start you off: in the majority of countries and territories around the world, nonbinary people are not recognised as a distinct legal genderβeither as a single collective nonbinary gender, or as the whole spectrum it actually represents. If you do live in a country where nonbinary identity is legally recognised: that's brilliant! really! but please be aware of the privileges granted by having your gender be recognised on a legal level, which the majority of nonbinary people do not have.
happy nonbinary awareness week! another interesting fact for you to consider: not every nonbinary person uses they/them, and instead might find the idea of being referred to by they/them as misgendering. furthermore, referring to nonbinary people simply as "they/thems" is a form of malgendering, as reducing a group down to a set of pronouns flattens and simplifies an incredibly diverse group of individuals in the public view, makes it easier for people to assign stereotypes to them, and can obscure nonbinary issues down to the question of pronouns. it's best not to make assumption about what language a person is comfortable with simply from their gender; if in doubt, and if in a safe place to do so, just ask!

Sylvia Riveras powerful speech against the exclusion of transgender people at the Gay Pride Rally NYC, 1973.
Transcript:
Y'all better quiet down! I've been trying to get up here all day for your gay brothers and your gay sisters in jail that write me every motherfucking week and ask for your help! And you all don't do a goddamn thing for them! And they write STAR, not the woman's group! They do not write women, they do not write men, they write to STAR! Because we're trying to do something for them! But you all tell me to go and hide my tail between my legs! I will not put up with this shit! I have been beaten, I have had my nose broken, I have been thrown in jail, I have lost my job, I have lost my apartment for gay liberation, and you all treat me this way?! What the fuck's wrong with you all?! Think about that! I believe in the gay power, I believe in us getting our rights, or else I would not be out there fighting for our rights, that's all I wanted to say to you people. Come and see people at STAR House on Twelfth Street, the people that are trying to do something for all of us, and not men and women that belong to our white middle class club! And that's what you all belong to! Revolution now! Gay power! Know the gay power!
ITS ONLY JULY FIRST
this is like a combination of exorsexism and racism i believe
my partner uses they/them pronouns and is black. everyone i know has automatically assumed they were white, feminine and slim, but the moment these people found out my partner is black? theyre suddenly masculine, suddenly they use masculine pronouns, suddenly they arent slim, suddenly theyre tough and scary.
no matter what, theyre pushed into some sort of binary instead of just being gender neutral, and it seems whenever theyre assumed to be feminine, that assumption comes with the idea that they are white.
this is exorsexism and racism

i am 100% convinced that mobile phone/ social media bans for under 16s are an attempt to remove kids and teens from public life. this is not protecting kids this is locking them in houses with no escape from their abusers. the world is so hostile to teenagers rn

superheroes try too hard to be cool these days when nobody can ever beat "his name is spider man and he dresses like a spider because he has the powers of a spider"
