NOW THAT’S MY SHIT. alright so. jared loves him. i don’t make the rules. he met that boy his sophomore year— rich’s freshman year— because they had lockers right next to each other. jared has always thought rich was cute, attractive. a guy he’d kinda be into, you know ? he teased rich like a mother fucker, though, but that’s to be expected with jared. 

then, rich gets a squip. suddenly, rich isn’t this dorky, freckle faced, adorable loser anymore. suddenly, he’s this hot as fuck, cool kid, with this red streak in his hair that definitely fits him. it’s like everything changes, and this guy he’d kinda be into ? yeah, he just turned into a guy he’d really be into. 

the best part is, they stay friends when rich has a squip. the fire comes and jared is really freaked out because you could have died, rich, what the fuck where you thinking but wont comment because he’s a dick. ( there is a point where they fight about this it sucks but w/e we will ignore that )

         i’ve talked abt this before but maaaybe it was on my old blog?? but that’s rich’s like. Realisation™. from what i’ve gathered, the squip had come to the conclusion that rich’s dad is the problem area – it’s not safe for him to come out at home, he admits himself that he’s having a rough time. when taken out of that environment ( aka, in the hospital ), with the squip dormant/deactivated for the time being, the section of rich’s mind that contained his bisexuality – the section of the mind that the squip had been keeping from him – hit him full force, and he blurts it out as this bright discovery : i’m not gay or straight, i’m bisexual ! there’s a label for me, i don’t have to be confused or worried as to which one i am ! there’s something that describes me, and i’m not on my own in this !

          he does ! it takes him a while because he’s still kind of nervous about being bisexual ( he comes out once he’s out of hospital, so around five or so months after the events of voices in my head ). you have to bear in mind that steven was raised in the exact same unhealthy environment that rich was – rich is worried that steven will feel as uncomfortable as he does.

           i bounce between ares and athena! i do think ares fits him more stereotypically ( he’s got a temper, he’s very blunt and snappy, has humour that can often come across as mean, etc ) i do think that he’s more intelligent than is expected from ares kids. that isn’t to say that all ares kids are dumb bc god knows they aren’t ( i stan clarisse so much… ) but the common conception is that they’re less tactical and more impulsive, and while rich certainly has airs of that, he also shows a more calculating, businesslike side in the squip song, and i like the idea of him being an athena kid that no one expects to be an athena kid.

           *kisses my fingertips* ahhh yes… the creme de la creme… so! rich and steven are the heads of a kinda shady underhand gang on the rough side of new jersey, kind of like the sou/thsi/de ser/pents or the pea/ky blin/ders. steven took over after their dad *ahem* suffered an accident when ste turned seventeen, and the brothers have been running the show ever since. they’re a very tight knit group, made up of mainly volunteers and people just looking to make a living in the poorer districts. everyone knows everyone in the goransgang, that’s just how it is.

           rich has like… a lot of power in this verse. he’s more cynical and fighty due to being raised by steven, around violence and drugs and illegal operations. he’s got his own little gang-within-a-gang that he raises hell with, and he’s always looking for new ways to expand goran/ski territory, work to be worthy to take over one day! he’s generally really renown and respected, unless you’re jake or a dill/inger loyalist. rich and jake reaaaally hate each other in this verse.
