i also find it so intriguing how their loyalties cannot truly lie with each other because their hearts crave freedom first and foremost, and being together eternally through something such as marriage represses them and their desires to follow their own individual paths. despite this, the love will always linger and be there, same for the memories they hold.

jack, keeping hold of her lace on his wrist no matter how tattered and withered it becomes. anytime he lifts that hand, he can remember her.

angelica, how she adored her ring she was gifted so deeply that it was enough of a price for tia dalma to accept. the joy that filled her when it was returned to her too.

its also quite sad because yet again he abandoned her after the fountain, but i can understand his perspective too. he saved her despite her wishes and can ensure her safety so he doesn’t need to acknowledge how much he cares for her in the meantime. he hates having to admit to loving and caring for her, so ensuring her safety when he’s not there kind of frees him in a way too?

not to mention the ways they constantly trick each other but are clearly soo infatuated with how the other moves and acts, its such a fun type of playful obsession. for example, when they meet back together in the jungle and jack points the sword at her to which she responds “how is it we can never meet without you pointing something at me?”,,, and they smile at each other soo playfully(picture below)zughhhh.
