“Because that’s my job.” Hei said, his eyes darting to the side behind the mask. He noticed a specter, figuring it to be Yin’s. She was keepin an eye on him, as usual. “So, answer my question, and I won’t bother you any further.”

Hei lowered his guard, putting his knife away. He wasn’t a contractor. His hands, however, didn’t move from his side. “I guess since you answered my question so easily, I can answer yours. I’m a contractor. And if you ask what that is, be warned I’m not going to let you know.”

Hei shook his head slightly. “You’re a complete idiot. I’m. Not. Human.” He said, watching the boy. If he wanted to kill Hei, he would have done something by now. A bluff. “Your question was for me to know what I want. I want to know if you’re a contractor or not. Answer that, and we’ll both be satisfied.”

“I’m not a human, so don’t assume.” Hei said, pulling his knife back. His gaze was focused on the boy. “If you answer my single question, I won’t have to kill you. Are you a contractor?” The question came with a double edge, however. If he, in fact, was a contractor, then his life would be ending. Everything in this room would easily allow him to use his powers, but he’d need a far better conductor than wood.

Hei had his knife towards the boy’s throat, but stopped a few inches away. “How did you jump off that building? Are you a contractor?” He asked bluntly, the coldness of his mask echoing the tone of his voice. The boy’s eyes were also different, but that could have been contacts. It didn’t seem like it, though.

Hei watched him run, and saw him round into a classroom. He threw his line onto the top of the school building, and looked out over the edge. No footprints, he hadn’t run off. He was trying to hide. If he could make that jump, he may have other powers. Hei ran back to the other side of the building and dropped down, opening one of the windows away from the classroom. Rolling into the school, he approached the classroom, and stood close to the wall, listening.

“Don’t need to. I have to go kid. Stay safe and don’t do what those books tell you” she told him.

“Oh? Then you can go” she said like it didn’t matter.

“Since I am your teacher. Now move your little butt” she told him.

“I’m your P.E teacher” she said annoyed and followed him and smacked his head. “Be respectful baka” she pouted.

“Not human? What are you then?” she asked bending forward to look at him closely.
