It’s a type of dancing done to brass band music in New Orleans

What’s the string for? Why do they like dance on each side of it?

Someone please answer

The string serves as a divider. People outside the line are spectators( second line) while the ones inside are the main section of the parade. In the vid they’re pretty much having a friendly dance, mildly competitive. Peep when the off screen voice says ‘Don’t let them young boys get w you’.

Wow I’m ny we have metal dividers. The string is really beautiful to me. Anybody could go under or over but it’s about respect and people adhere to it
