The particular segment of medical racism that says ‘Black people are built tougher’ is a great example of why ‘positive’ stereotypes don’t exist. 

but god. the sense of betrayal from my own body. this feeling of “why is this happening to me?” “why can’t my body just do what i need it to?” “why am i in so much pain when i’m not even doing anything?” it’s just such an impossible reality to accept but there is no other choice

Share and resist

At the end of your life no one will give you a prize for enduring more pain than other people before taking measures (such as medication) to help manage your pain. It is okay to take meds when you need to before you've hit your absolute breaking point and need even more medication to reach your baseline. I know it can feel like weakness, but knowing yourself and when/how you need to manage your pain is an incredible strength.
