I feel like his feelings for her changed and he started developing a crush on her long before he realized it and/or was willing to act on it. For me, I think his opinion of her first changed when he had to tell Rae that Archie stood her up for their date. In general I noticed a lot of jealousy with Finn around Rae and Archie’s brief fling, but it’s hard to say whether that was jealousy because he was interested in her or annoyance because Rae was still new to the group.

I think the first point that Finn recognized that he had feelings for Rae was on the trip to Knebworth when Rae left at the last minute. I can practically imagine him being extra broody and missing her only for him to finally have the “oh shit” moment and realize that he loved her.
