Sara
She and her best friend Meranda showed up to Monday Night RAW in Richmond, VA. Meranda was in town visiting her best friend Sara. Just having a girls night. They were sitting in their seats as the show started having a good time as they were laughing and carrying on. Until she heard Soloâs music. Not having seen him in person in quite some time as she felt herself freeze. She watched the match as the crowd cheered him on. He was rising to the top. She often wondered what could have been. After the show they were walking when she heard her name. âIâll leave you to it, sis. â Meranda nodded as she gave Solo a look as Sara folded her arms protecting her security. âHey good to see you tonight. Didnt think we were coming to your area. â Solo said as Sara replied with âYeah we moved here to be closer to family. Dadâs sick so we needed to be by good healthcare. â She said looking down as Solo hugged her. âYou know Iâm keeping him in my prayers. â Sara nodded âThank you. â
Solo
He could see how tired and beaten down she looked. But truthfully? She was still beautiful to him. All together throughout high school they were happy. But it was college that drove them apart. You would think absence makes the heart grow fonder. He still loved her no matter what. Wondering what could have been had he had the balls to pop the question.  He could give her a better life and anything she wanted.
Jey
From a distance Joshua was watching this interaction. I really need to give little bro a talk about how to talk to women. He failed this one. He walked over and shouted âYo! Hey Sara, been a while sweetheart. How are you? â They exchanged a hug as they caught up on stuff. âHey hows Sefa doing? â Asking about the 2 year old boy Sara and Solo shared. Sara nodded âHeâs doing good. Actually I brought him tonight thinking he could see his Dad. Thats if his dad isnât too busy. â He could see his brother flinch at that retort. âWell if his Dad is occupied with a match. Iâm done with my segments maybe I can take him to catering and grab some food. Would you like that little man? â He smiled ruffling his nephewâs hair as Sefa grinned. âUncle Josh! Can we go find some chicken tenders with waffles? Do they have that here? â Joshua laughed âIâll see what I can do, little man. Youâve got an appetite just like me. Weâre twins. â Making Sefa giggle.
Sara
âYup! He definitely takes after his Samoan side of the family. I used to eat like that but I cant no more. Not with my family history. Diabetes runs in the family real bad. But luckily heâs got your genes. â Making everyone laugh as she smiled. âThank you Josh for doing this with him. â They were later at catering, it was just the three of them. âI just thought Joe would lighten up a little seeing him here. Sefaâs been wanting to see his Dad. â What Joshua said next made her realize. âMaybe he feels guilty about yâall splitting up. Maybe he feels guilty about missing out on his life. We never got to see our pops hardly growing up. He was always on the road. â Sara nodded âI was willing to support his ventures. We were just young at the time. I was afraid of being a young mom left at home by myself. I knew I had your mom and my stepmom to help but still. I dont want to be a burden on anyone. â She shook her head taking a bite of her chicken Caesar wrap and sipping her water.Â
Solo
Guilt ran through his mind. About not being there this Monday Night RAW he was to be delivered to Roman Reigns, his cousin. Solo always wanted to be on his own, do his own thing. He was escorted by his brothers as he saw Sara and his son looking at him âDaddy has to go. Iâll be back. â Solo said to his son as Sara tilted her head looking at Sefa âWe can watch Daddy on tv. Okay? â Solo headed to his match as he faced his former friend LA Knight. He could sense his brother Josh mocking him.
Jey
âHey if youâre scared right now. You aint man enough for your girl. At least I can show up and kick ass and then leave. â He looked to his brother. The Bloodline standing in the ring as he felt Solo grab his arm ready for a Samoan spike but Joshua grabbed his arm and whispered âMatter of fact let me go hit her up right now. â Solo punched him as they went for a scuffle, Jon pulling Joshua away from his brother.
Sara
Seeing this on tv not understanding what was said. She was stunned seeing the two of them fight. She closed her eyes being in a clinic as she remembered getting an abortion. She knew at the time it was the right thing to do. She remembered his angry reaction. How he would throw things at her. Her thoughts were quickly turned off when Solo threw a chair nearly hitting her and Sefa âWhat the actual hell, Solo?! You couldâve hit our son! â Solo ran off cursing under his breath.
Solo
He was so blinded by rage he didnt realize he almost hit his fiance and son with the chair. He just had his bags and got in a car as he took off. Where he didnt know to. He just needed to clear his head.
Jey
Seeing this as he ran over to check on Sara and Sefa. He looked angry at his brother as his attentions quickly turned to Sara âHey Sara. You alright? Are you both hurt? â He went from her directly to their son. Seeing Sara shake her head âHey hey, I got you⌠â He was holding her shaking body. âWhy dont we head back to my hotel huh? â They soon left. Not knowing what the next thing would bring them. But what was evident is he was falling for her.

with jimmy being such a calm and mellow person, it makes loving him so easy. but you know that heâs a quiet storm. you notice it when heâs sometimes deep in thought, staring off like heâs somewhere else.
heâs always going along w your silly ideas, though.
you prop up your phone and back up until youâre standing side by side with jimmy. as the countdown starts, the two of you share a kiss before he stares at you for a second, his thumb grazing along your chin. you giggle, turning toward the camera. âhi guys! iâm doing a cute little grwm and as you can seeââ you trail off, smiling as you lean into jimmyâs side. âme and my bestfriend are wearing matching pajamas today!â
you pull away from him, lips pressed together as you try like hell not to laugh in his face. behind you, jimmy is staring into the camera, nodding to himself.
you clear your throat. âso i got a cute white tee and some linen pajama pants from..i think garage? bestie, where did i get them from?â
you glance back at him when he doesnât answer. heâs still looking at the camera, lips pressed together in that little smile of his. you just reach for his hand anyway, and he immediately takes yours, fingers slipping between yours.
âokay, your turn. tell them where you got your outfit from, friend.â
your bantering was so close to driving him up a wall. you could see it in the way jimmyâs smile stretches as he reached for your phone and stopped the video.
nope, that smile wasnât a good sign at all.
Never Get Over Me
summary: It was supposed to stay simple. Whenever Anissa needed a re-up, she called Jimmy. Somewhere between late-night smoke sessions, lingering looks, and crossing a line neither of them bothered to uncross, he became a whole lot more than just her weed man. No titles. No expectations. No feelings... or at least, that's what they tell each other. Jimmy keeps a strict program when it comes to Anissa. Nonchalant, possessive when he feels like it, and toxic enough to swear he doesn't care while making damn sure nobody gets too comfortable around what's "his." Anissa knows better than to expect anything more. She's too busy taking care of everybody else and hiding her own battles behind an *I'm good* anyway. They aren't together. They don't belong to each other. So why does it feel like neither one of them knows how to let the other go?

sc!roman intimidates you when he first starts working there. his large, muscular build combined with his quiet, no-nonsense attitude makes you hesitate to introduce yourself. your cubicle is right next to his, but you don't start talking to him until you ask for help with Excel.
"h-hey roman... umm can you help me with my spreadsheets? i don't know if it's the program or if it's me," you chuckle nervously. he pushes his glasses up his nose bridge and stands up.
"sure, what's the problem?" he says. he comes over and leans his massive frame over you while he looks at the computer.

Author's note: As requested, we giving Lucien Price some love. That man is walking ART. That man can create some bomb ass Artwork. This is for the ones that love them a ARTEEEST LMAO đ¤đ˝ It's lengthy asf... cause your girl has been sitting on this and dragging to get this finished.. I hope yall enjoy, my babies.
READER| "If that man don't stop being so damn mysterious, I swear I'mma start checking his closet for secret identities and superhero suits" Dani's loud, wheezing cackle nearly made me snort sweet tea through my nose. I caught myself just in time, sputtering softly as I leaned back against the plush velvet cushions of my couch., curling my bare legs comfortably underneath my oversized shirt. "I'm dead serious, Dee." I laughed, shaking my head as the condensation from my mason jar dripped onto my knee. "We've been together for eight whole, uninterrupted months. EIGHT. Months. I know he wrestles for NXT. I know he makes the most unbelievable, rich, spicy Jollof rice I've ever tasted in my entire life. I know he hums songs under his breath in that deep, resonant baritone whenever heâs chopping scotch bonnet peppers."
I began counting off on my manicured fingers, feeling the familiar, warm flutter in my chest just mentioning his name. "I know he steals my favorite satin bonnet every single time he sleeps over because he forgets his durags at his house for his braids." I continued, my voice dipping into a gentle, playful drawl. Dani barked another laugh over the speaker. "Nah, he too damn big to be stealin' your bonnets girl."
Another wave of booming laughter echoed through my cozy apartment. The warm sound bounced off the crisp white walls, which were thoughtfully decorated with cascading pothos vines, framed vintage vinyl records, and tall wooden bookshelves overflowing with paperbacks Iâd promised myself Iâd reread whenever work slowed down.
It was home. It wasn't overly extravagant, but it was thoughtful, bright, and deeply mine.
Well... mostly mine.
Nnamdi had practically moved in over the last few months. It wasn't official by any stretch of the imagination, he still paid rent on his own place over near the WWE Performance Center in Winter Park, where he spent grueling hours training, lifting, and honing his craft for NXT as Lucien Price. But somehow, slowly and without a single formal conversation, his presence had seeped into every quiet corner of my life.
His t-shirts and dri-fit shorts had miraculously multiplied in my closet, hanging right alongside my dresses.
The rich, intoxicating scent of his expensive cologne, a blend of amber, cedar-wood and spicy bergamot; permanently lingered on my couch pillows. A second toothbrush had quietly taken up residence in the porcelain holder beside mine. There were massive tubs of chocolate plant protein powder sitting in my pantry, heavyweight wrestling boots neatly aligned by my front door, a red PlayStation controller sitting on my coffee table that I had certainly never purchased.
Somehow, over these few months we had quietly transformed "your place" into "our space" in every single way that mattered. "You know what's crazy to me?" Dani said, her tone shifting into a perceptive frequency that only childhood besties could achieve. "What's crazy, Dee?" "I ain't heard you complain about that man a single time since you been with him." I bit the inside of my cheek, a helpless, warm smile blooming across my face before I could even attempt to stop it. "That because there's really nothing to complain about, Dani."
"Ain't nobody on God's green earth perfect, sweetie. Come on now." "I know that." "So what's his flaws then? Gimme something." I paused, holding my jar on my knee as I actually stopped to think about it. "Hmmm..." Silence stretched over the line as I mentally through the catalog of his quirks. "...He's stubborn as hell," I offered finally. "Mhm. Go on." "... And he never, EVER asks for help with anything, even when he's carrying multiple things at once." "Mhm. What else?" "He steals half my food every time we go out, even after swearing up and down he wasn't hungry."
"There we go. What else?" I frowned slightly, my eyes drifting towards my window as a quiet softness settled over my heart. "... Sometimes he disappears."
Dani's humor paused immediately. "What you mean, disappears? Like ghosting?" "No! No, Lord, not like that," I corrected quickly, shaking my jar, swishing my sweet tea around a bit. "Just....internally. Sometimes he just... goes really quiet." "How quiet are we talking?" "Like..." I searched for the right words to describe the intensity that lived behind those, piercing eyes of his. "Like he'll be sitting right beside me on the sofa. We'll be watching a movie, or cooking dinner together, or just running errands at the grocery store on a Sunday afternoon. But every once in a while, it feels like his mind leaves the room entirely. Like he retreats somewhere deep inside his own head."
Dani hummed thoughtfully, the background of her own kitchen rustling through the phone. "Have you asked him about it?" "I have," I murmured softly, "And he'll just offer me that slow, gentle smile of his. He'll kiss the back of my hand and say, 'I'm good, baby. Just thinking.' And that's all he'll give me." "And you don't push him for more?" "Why should I?" I smiled into the quiet space of my apartment. "I think everyone deserves a little corner inside themselves that belongs only to them. He gives me so much of his heart already." There was another long beat of absolute silence over the line. "You really love that man, don't you?" Dani whispered softly. My cheeks flamed instantly, the heat rising all the way to the tips of my ears. "I do not." "Girl, stop that damn lying." "I don't!" "You saying that with a smile on your face, ain't you?" "...Maybe a little bit." "You over there cheesing at nothing?" "...Possibly." "I KNEW IT!"
We both dissolved into a fit of helpless, belly-deep laughter, the kind of pure, sisterly joy that made your stomach ache and brought tears to the corners of your eyes.
Outside, as if on cue, the dark Florida storm clouds parted, allowing brilliant rays of golden afternoon sunlight to pierce through the overcast sky. Warm, honeyed light streamed through the glass, stretching across the dark hardwood floors and bathing the entire apartment in an amber glow.
Right on time, my phone vibrated hard in my hand, buzzing repeatedly as a notification popped up on the screen.

The One Who Stood Beside Her
Sharmela had become very good at disappearing without actually leaving.
She knew how to sit in the corner of WWE catering with her shoulders rounded, her lunch untouched, and her eyes fixed on her phone so no one would notice she had nowhere else to sit.
She knew how to walk through the backstage hallways without making eye contact.
She knew how to laugh softly when someone made a cruel comment, pretending it did not hurt because defending herself usually made things worse.
Most of all, she knew how to cry quietly.
That afternoon, she hid inside a restroom stall while three women from the production department stood near the mirrors.
They did not know she was there.
Or perhaps they did.
"I don't understand why they hired her," one of them said.
Another woman laughed. "Probably to fill some diversity requirement."
"She walks around here as if she belongs."
"Have you seen the way she looks at the talent? Especially Jimmy?"
Sharmela covered her mouth with one hand.
Her chest tightened.
"I know," the first woman replied. "As if Jimmy Uso would ever look at somebody like her."
Their laughter filled the restroom.
The laughter seemed to seep under the stall door, rising Sharmela's legs and weighing down her chest.
She stared down at her purple sneakers.
They had been her favorite pair that morning.
Now they looked foolish.
Everything about her felt foolish.
Her clothes.
Her body.
Her quiet crush.
The tiny flicker of hope she had felt every time Jimmy smiled at her from across catering.
Sharmela waited until the women left before opening the stall.
Her reflection startled her.
Her eyes were red, and a tear had left a crooked trail through her makeup.
She wet a paper towel and pressed it beneath her eyes.
"Pull yourself together," she whispered. "You have work to do."
She had always been able to work through pain.
Working gave her pain a place to go.
She returned to the production area and spent the next several hours organizing schedules, printing call sheets, and helping coordinate transportation for the wrestlers.
No one noticed she barely spoke.
No one except Jimmy.
He had noticed Sharmela long before she realized it.
He noticed how she carried extra pens because someone always forgot one.
He noticed how she remembered every crew member's coffee order.
He noticed how she slipped candy onto the production table during long nights.
He noticed her colorful notebooks, her purple headphones, and the little wrestling stickers decorating her laptop.
Jimmy also noticed how she changed whenever certain people entered the room.
Her smile vanished.
Her shoulders tightened.
Her eyes dropped.
He had seen that kind of fear before.
It was the look of someone constantly waiting for the next blow, even when the blows came disguised as jokes.
That evening, Jimmy found her standing beside a printer that refused to cooperate.
Sharmela pulled open one tray, then another.
"Come on," she muttered. "Please don't do this today."
Jimmy leaned against the doorway.
"You arguing with the printer?"
She jumped and nearly dropped the stack of paper in her hands.
"Jimmy! You scared me."
"My bad." He grinned. "But from where I'm standing, that printer was winning."
"It has an unfair advantage. It doesn't care if it gets fired."
Jimmy laughed, but Sharmela's smile disappeared almost immediately.
He studied her face.
"You good?"
"I'm fine."
"That answer came out too fast."
She looked back at the printer. "I'm just tired."
Jimmy stepped closer.
There was a gentleness in his voice that made her defenses tremble.
"Sharmela."
She swallowed.
"You don't have to tell me anything," he continued. "But don't lie to me either."
Her eyes burned.
She quickly looked away.
"I said I'm fine."
"All right."
Jimmy did not push.
Instead, he crouched beside the printer, pulled out a crumpled sheet of paper, and held it up triumphantly.
"There. Saved your job."
A laugh escaped her before she could stop it.
Jimmy smiled.
"There she is."
Sharmela's heart stumbled.
Before she could respond, one of the women from the restroom walked past the doorway.
She looked at Sharmela, then at Jimmy.
"Well, somebody's enjoying the attention."
Sharmela's smile disappeared.
The woman kept walking.
Jimmy slowly straightened.
"What was that?"
"Nothing."
"That didn't sound like nothing."
"She was joking."
"Did you think it was funny?"
Sharmela began gathering the papers.
"It doesn't matter."
Jimmy placed a hand over the stack, stopping her.
"It matters if it hurts you."
The tenderness in his voice nearly broke her.
She pulled the papers away.
"I need to finish these."
Then she hurried from the room.
Jimmy watched her go, his jaw tightening.
Something was wrong.
And he was going to find out what it was.
The next week, the bullying grew worse.
Someone replaced Sharmela's desktop background with an unflattering picture of her taken while she was eating.
Someone left a printed diet plan on her chair.
Her lunch disappeared from the refrigerator twice.
Then a fake social media account appeared.
It used Sharmela's picture and posted embarrassing messages pretending to be her.
One post claimed she was secretly dating a WWE wrestler.
Another said she believed she was prettier than every woman backstage.
By lunchtime, screenshots were circulating among the crew.
Sharmela stood in the hallway while people whispered around her.
Each time her phone buzzed, it felt like someone was throwing another stone at her.
She opened the fake profile.
There were dozens of comments.
Some people were defending her.
Others were laughing.
One comment made her stomach drop.
Maybe she should spend less time chasing wrestlers and more time chasing a treadmill.
Sharmela locked her phone.
She could not breathe.
She hurried toward an empty equipment room, pushed the door closed behind her, and slid down the wall.
Her lungs refused to fill.
She pressed both hands against her chest.
"Breathe," she whispered. "Just breathe."
But the room tilted.
The door suddenly opened.
"Sharmela?"
Jimmy's voice reached her through the panic.
He immediately dropped to his knees in front of her.
"Hey. Look at me."
She shook her head.
"I can't."
"Yes, you can. Come on, sweetheart. Look at me."
Her eyes finally met his.
"That's it," Jimmy said. "Stay right here with me."
He held out his hand without touching her.
"Can I hold your hand?"
Sharmela nodded.
Jimmy wrapped his hand around hers.
His palm was warm and steady.
"Breathe with me," he said. "Slow down. There's no rush."
He inhaled deeply.
Sharmela tried to copy him.
Her first breath came in broken pieces.
"That's all right," Jimmy assured her. "Try again."
They breathed together.
One breath.
Then another.
The room slowly stopped spinning.
Jimmy remained on the floor with her, his thumb brushing across her knuckles.
"You're safe," he said. "I got you."
Those words helped her more than any breathing exercise could.
Sharmela burst into tears.
Jimmy moved beside her and gently pulled her against his chest.
She clung to the front of his shirt.
"I'm sorry," she cried.
"For what?"
"For being like this."
Jimmy leaned back enough to look at her.
"Don't apologize for hurting."
"They made an account." Her voice cracked. "They've been posting things about me."
"Who?"
"I don't know."
"That's not true."
Sharmela lowered her eyes.
Jimmy's voice remained soft, but determination sharpened every word.
"You know who's doing this."
"If I say anything, it'll get worse."
"It already got worse."
"They'll say I'm too sensitive."
Jimmy frowned. "People call you sensitive when they don't want to take responsibility for being cruel."
Sharmela wiped her cheeks.
"I just want to go home."
"I'll take you."
"You don't have to."
"I know."
She fell quiet at his answer.
Jimmy stood and offered his hand.
"I'm doing it because nobody should be alone after something like this."
Sharmela allowed him to pull her to her feet.
He did not release her hand.
Not in the hallway.
Not while people stared.
Not even when they passed the women from production.
Jimmy looked directly at them as he walked beside Sharmela.
For the first time, they were the ones who dropped their eyes.
During the drive to Sharmela's apartment, Jimmy did not pressure her to talk.
He kept the music low and drove with one hand on the steering wheel.
When they arrived, Sharmela stared at her building.
"I feel stupid."
"Why?"
"Because I let them get to me."
Jimmy turned toward her.
"Being hurt by something hurtful doesn't make you weak. It makes you human."
"I should have stood up for myself."
"You were trying to survive the day."
She picked at a loose thread on her sleeve.
"They've been doing it for months."
Jimmy's expression changed.
"Months?"
Sharmela nodded.
"Comments about my clothes. My weight. The way I speak. They hide my things. They exclude me from meetings and then blame me when I don't know what's happening."
"Why didn't you tell anyone?"
"I tried once. My supervisor said they were probably teasing because they liked me."
Jimmy scoffed. "That ain't teasing."
"I didn't want to cause trouble."
"Sharmela, you're not causing trouble by telling the truth. The people hurting you caused the trouble."
She stared through the windshield.
"What if nobody believes me?"
"I believe you."
Her eyes filled again.
Jimmy reached across the center console.
"And tomorrow, we're going to make sure the right people hear you."
"We?"
"We."
"You don't have to save me."
Jimmy's expression softened.
"I'm not trying to take your voice away by speaking for you. I'm standing beside you until you feel strong enough to use it."
Sharmela looked down at their joined hands.
"What if I'm never strong enough?"
"You were strong enough to walk into that building every day while people tried to break you."
He gently moved his thumb over her fingers.
"You're already strong. You're just tired."
The following morning, Jimmy met her outside the arena.
Sharmela had nearly turned around three times before reaching the entrance.
When she saw him waiting for her in a black hoodie and matching sweatpants, some of the pressure in her chest eased.
"You came," she said.
Jimmy raised an eyebrow.
"Told you I would."
"I thought you might get busy."
"You're important too."
Her lips parted, but no words came.
Jimmy opened the door.
"Ready?"
"No."
He gave her a gentle smile. "It's okay. Being brave isn't the same as being ready."
Together, they met with human resources, the head of production, and security.
Sharmela showed them the messages, screenshots, and photographs she had quietly saved over the previous months.
Jimmy sat beside her.
He did not interrupt.
He did not speak over her.
Whenever Sharmela's voice trembled, he rested his hand beside hers on the table, close enough that she knew she was not alone.
The investigation began immediately.
The fake account was traced to a device used by one of the production assistants. Security footage showed two others removing Sharmela's belongings and placing the diet sheet on her chair.
By the end of the week, all three women had been suspended.
Two were later terminated.
The supervisor who dismissed Sharmela's earlier complaint was formally disciplined and removed from overseeing her department.
Yet the disciplinary actions did not undo the harm. Support from HR, counseling, and peer groups offered Sharmela connection and reassurance as she began to heal.
Sharmela still jumped when people laughed nearby.
She still checked her chair before sitting down.
She still ate lunch alone.
One afternoon, Jimmy walked into catering and saw her at the same corner table.
He placed his tray across from hers.
"This seat taken?"
She shook her head.
Jimmy sat down.
A few minutes later, Jey joined them.
Then Trinity arrived.
Then Solo.
By the time Sharmela looked up, the table was full.
Jimmy stole one of her fries.
She slapped his hand.
"Did you just take my food?â
âI was checking it for poison.â
âThen check your own.â
âMy fries donât taste as good.â
âThey came from the same place.â
Jimmy shrugged. âYours got extra flavor.â
Jey groaned. âMan, just admit you wanted her fry.â
âIâm protecting her.â
âFrom potatoes?â
âDanger comes in many forms, Uce.â
Sharmela laughed.
Not the small, apologetic laugh she used when she wanted to disappear.
A real laugh.
Her laughter came out bright and full.
Jimmy stared at her.
âWhat?â she asked.
âNothing.â
âYouâre looking at me funny.â
âI like your laugh.â
Heat rushed into her cheeks.
Jey glanced between them.
âYeah, Iâm gonna go before this turns into a romance movie.â
âYou just got here,â Trinity said.
âAnd I already know how it ends.â
Jimmy threw a napkin at him.
As the others began laughing, Sharmela looked around the table.
For months, she had believed she did not belong.
Now, for the first time, she wondered if the bullies had lied about more than just her appearance.
Maybe they had lied about her worth, too.
Over the following weeks, Jimmy became a steady presence in her life.
He texted her in the mornings.
You up?
Unfortunately.
Good. Be great.
He walked her to her car after late shows.
He brought her coffee when she worked through lunch.
He listened when she had bad days without trying to rush her healing.
But he also challenged her.
When Sharmela apologized for taking too long to answer a question, Jimmy stopped her.
âWhen did you start apologizing for thinking?â
When she moved aside so someone else could take the last available chair, he pulled it back for her.
âYou were here first.â
When she stayed silent during a production meeting despite having the solution to a scheduling problem, Jimmy found her afterward.
âYou had the answer.â
âHow did you know?â
âBecause you made that face."The one where you want to say something, but you keep quiet. Your mouth is hiding.â
Sharmela smiled faintly.
âI didnât think anyone wanted to hear from me.â
âI did.â
Slowly, her voice returned.
It returned little by little.
A suggestion during a meeting.
A firm no when someone tried to give her extra work unfairly.
A complaint when a coworker made an inappropriate comment.
Each time she stood up for herself, Jimmy celebrated as though she had won a championship.
One evening, after a live show, Sharmela found a folded note taped to her laptop.
For a moment, fear flashed through her.
Jimmy noticed.
âYou want me to open it?â
She stared at the note.
Then she shook her head.
âNo. I can do it.â
She unfolded the paper.
Thank you for making our department kinder. Seeing you speak up helped me report what was happening to me too.
There was no name.
Sharmela read the note twice.
Then she sat down and covered her mouth.
Jimmy stepped closer.
âWhat does it say?â
She handed it to him.
After reading it, he smiled.
âLook at you.â
âI didnât do anything.â
âStop that.â
âI just told the truth.â
âExactly.â
Jimmy placed the note back in her hand.
"You thought you were just getting by, but someone else was watching you learn to stand up for yourself."
Sharmela looked up at him.
âI couldnât have done it without you.â
âYes, you could.â
She frowned.
Jimmy continued, âMaybe it wouldâve taken longer. Maybe it wouldâve been harder. But that strength was already in you.â
He gently touched her cheek.
âI didnât put it there.â
Sharmelaâs breath caught.
"You just needed someone to remind you."
Suddenly, the hallway was very quiet.
Jimmyâs thumb brushed beneath her eye.
âYou donât ever have to make yourself smaller around me.â
Her voice barely rose above a whisper.
âWhy are you so good to me?â
âBecause I care about you.â
âAs a friend?â
Jimmy smiled, but there was nervousness behind it.
âAt first.â
Sharmelaâs heart pounded.
âAnd now?â
âNow I spend half my day finding excuses to walk past your office.â
She laughed softly.
âI knew you didnât need that many copies.â
âNot one of my smoothest plans.â
âYou asked me to print the same schedule three times.â
âI was committed.â
âTo wasting paper?â
âTo seeing you.â
Sharmela shook her head, smiling.
Then her expression grew serious.
âThe things they said about meâŚâ
âI donât care what they said.â
âThey said you would never want somebody like me.â
Jimmy stepped closer.
âSomebody like you?â
She lowered her gaze.
âSomeone who looks like me.â
Jimmy gently lifted her chin.
âLook at me.â
Her eyes met his.
âI see a beautiful woman,â he said. âI see somebody kind, funny, stubborn, thoughtful, and stronger than she realizes.â
His voice softened.
"I see the woman I've been falling for."
A tear slipped down Sharmela's cheek.
Jimmy wiped it away.
"But I don't want to be your savior forever."
She blinked. "What?"
"I want to be your partner."
The word stayed with her.
Not savior.
Partner.
Someone who stood beside her, not in front of her.
Someone who protected her without making her feel helpless.
Someone who reminded her of her power instead of claiming it as his own.
Jimmy held her face gently.
"Can I kiss you?"
Sharmela nodded.
"Yes."
His lips met hers slowly.
The kiss was warm, careful, and full of everything he had been showing her for weeks.
Patience.
Safety.
Affection.
When they separated, Jimmy rested his forehead against hers.
"You good?"
Sharmela smiled.
"I'm better than good."
"There she is."
Months later, Sharmela stood in front of a room filled with production staff.
She had been promoted to department coordinator and asked to lead a new workplace-respect initiative.
Jimmy waited in the back of the room.
She could see him wearing a proud smile.
Sharmela gripped the edge of the podium.
"There was a time when I believed silence would keep me safe," she began. âI thought that if I made myself invisible, people would eventually leave me alone.â
She paused, letting her words settle. "Many individuals have experienced withdrawing and diminishing themselves in environments where respect is lacking. Sharmela's story highlights how essential it is to foster a workplace culture rooted in respect and dignity, as only then can everyone truly feel safe and empowered to express their authentic selves."
The room remained still.
âBut silence did not protect me. It protected the people hurting me.â
Jimmy nodded.
Sharmela took a breath.
âSpeaking up was terrifying. I was fortunate to have someone stand beside me, but I also learned something important."
Her gaze found Jimmy's.
"Sometimes being saved does not mean someone carries you away from the fire. Sometimes it means they hold your hand while you discover that you are strong enough to walk out yourself."
If there is someone in your workplace who feels alone or unheard, take a moment to stand beside them. Your support could make all the difference.
Applause filled the room.
Jimmy clapped louder than anyone.
Later, he met her in the hallway and swept her into his arms.
"You killed it!"
"Put me down," she laughed.
"Nope. Proud boyfriend moment."
"Everybody is looking."
"Let 'em."
Jimmy set her on her feet but kept his arms around her waist.
"You know what my favorite part was?"
"What?"
"When you said I was handsome, brave, and extremely charming."
"I did not say any of that."
"That's what I heard."
"You need to get your hearing checked."
Jimmy kissed her forehead.
"I'm proud of you."
Sharmela leaned into him.
"Thank you for saving me."
Jimmy shook his head.
"I told you. You saved yourself."
She smiled.
"Then thank you for standing beside me."
"Always."
And this time, Sharmela believed him.
Not because she needed Jimmy to fight every battle for her.
Not because she needed him to prove she was worthy.
She believed him because he had helped her understand something her bullies never wanted her to know. Each of us has the power to help someone else recognize their worth, just by standing beside them. Ask yourself: who in your world might need to be seen, believed, or supported? Sometimes, being that person for someone else can change not just their story, but your own.
She had always been worthy.
And now, with Jimmy holding her hand and her own voice strong inside her, she knew she would never fade away again.
