Just finished up this #eragon ring for Teran K. Designed based off the book images. The ring is silver .995 distressed with a light patina to give it some age. Mmmm... Ocean Bacon! 🤣🤣🤣 Where are my divers and #spearfisherman at? You may or may not know there is actually a fish called a #hogfish. Doesn't really look like this. There is also an Island in the #bahamas where pigs swim. I've wanted to do this for a while, I even have a 90% complete clay sculpture I'm working on but its massive... Like 2ft long. The idea originally was to do a series of fish but mashup them up in the literal sense, i.e hogfish, parrot fish, cow fish etc. Then I got distracted and busy with other things. I'm sure I'll get them all sorted out at some point, whenever I can plan on doing another show... Still WIP... Just trying to feel out the scale and how everything might go together. The #phantom himself still needs alot of work, not sure if I'm gonna go the movie route look or something more vintage... I kinda want to just put all the pieces I personally like together and call it a hodge podge lol. The #skullsoftouganda I #modeled last year based on the movie i.e #thephantom, the rings I designed like 2years ago which were based on the original sketches for the movie not what was actually used... The buckle I just quickly made this morning, with the skull matching the ring. I still want to add in some jungle stuff, maybe part of the cave and some vines or something. Gonna be awhile before its done. Nice clean casting for Jon Z. I have done nothing to this yet except lightly cleaning it and removing the investment material. This new stuff I'm using really makes clean castings. Very little cleaning work- only used the magnetic pin polisher. Still need to polish and plate it. I was really surprised to see that snake head cast perfectly the first time. Even the fangs came out. If anyone else is experiencing product shortages like I am due to the #coronavirus. In this case 90% Isopropyl alcohol for cleaning resin prints. I've switched over to using 100% non-diluted degreaser like #mrclean, #simplegreen and a few others in combination with heating the solution to about 115degrees in a cheap #harborfreight #ultrasonic cleaner. Its does take a little bit more time to get the parts clean but, when it is clean it's really clean. Been wanting to do this patina with this #phantomlanternring for awhile. I added a few different alloys to the silver while casting that would respond to heat and chemicals to get this subtle rainbow patina on a silver ring. Its was a lot of extra work for a marginal improvement, the technique is still a work in progress but it seems promising at the moment.
