“wooyoung!” you called out, smiling as you waved at him. you walked to him, he grinned. you could see how fast his mood changed from bored to excited. “there she is~ lets go? i’ll carry your bag” he offers. you let him, handing him your school bag. “where are you taking me, youngie?” you ask curiously, walking with him. “theres a small bookstore i saw nearby and it made me think of you! you’re gonna love it yn, i promise.” he smiles. it warms your heart. he really thought about you? “a bookstore? but you dont even care about books. surely you’ll get bored,” you chuckle. wooyoung scoffs, rolling his eyes.

“i cant get bored if im with you,” he explains, opening the door for you. he smiles, patting your head as you walk in. you blush as you look around, no one’s ever bothered to do this for you. you look around before you find something interesting. “do you like that?” he asks. you look up at him and nod. “how much is it?” “its… oh..” you say before trailing off. you saw the price. it was way too expensive. “its too much” you chuckle, putting the book back. wooyoung pouts, rubbing your back. “sorry…” he says softly.

“well it was great hanging out with you, youngie” you grin as he walked you home. he chuckles, cheeks pink. “it was nothing…” he answers, trying not to show how flustered he is. “i’m totally gonna save up for that book!” you exclaimed, determined. he smiles, finding your love for books adorable. “tell me about it when you get it, okay?” he grins. you sigh softly as you arrive at your house. “thanks for walking me home, wooyoung. i’ll see you tomorrow at school.” you smile softly, waving goodbye at him. “yeah, i’ll see you. bye ynnie!~” he giggles.

“do you think she’ll say yes?” wooyoung whispers to san as he adjusted the flowers. “for sure, man. you’ve got this” he hypes up, nudging his side. wooyoung blushes as he sees you walk down the hall. you havent noticed him yet, but your eyes go wide when you do. “ynnie! these are for you” he exclaims, handing you the flowers. “wooyoung! really?! you didnt have to..” you shock, face flushing. “thats not all..” he grins cheekily before handing you the book you wanted. “what?! you got it!? but wooyoung, it was so expensive!” you exclaimed. he smiles nervously, playing with your hair to distract himself. “it was nothing…”

“you’re here,” hongjoong grinned as you nervously walked into the training room. there lay a table of weapons, targets, punching bags, and some other equipment. you give the two men a small wave, shutting the door behind you. the clock ticked, the lights were dim since they hadn’t been changed yet. “you ready?” the taller man asked. “yeah, i guess so..”

“pick your poison,” hongjoong says, gesturing to the table of weapons. you start off simple with a knife. hongjoong led you to one of the dummies they have for testing out weapons. its definitely seen better days. “teach ‘em, hwa,” he calls out to seonghwa. he walks closer, hands on your shoulders. “we’ll start off simple. let’s say your target is knocked out. should be easy, right?” he chuckles. “

“hold the knife like this, it gives you a better grip” hongjoong chimes in, adjusting the way you held the knife. you nod, trying your best to take in all the information. seonghwa moves next to the dummy. he points to where the human heart should be, “try stabbing it here,” he tells you before moving out the way. “remember, we’re not killing random people. we’re killing people who have done others wrong.” hongjoong reminds you. “let all your anger come out… it’s easier when you do so.”

your breath shook. you did the real thing yesterday, why were you still so anxious? you swallowed down your fear (or atleast tried to), and let out a heavy exhale. you raised your hand, took another deep break, before stabbing the dummy with your knife. you missed it’s “heart,” but you did good anyway. “hm.. thats good, but i know you can do better” seonghwa encouraged, giving you a pat on the shoulder. “lets try a different method, shall we?”

and so you tried some other weapons. a gun, an axe, even a chainsaw. you were slowly but surely improving. not hongjoong and seonghwa level, but you were good for a newbie. however, none of it was enough for you. you wanted to prove that you were worth being a proxy and “you’re doing good” wasnt gonna cut it.

“it’s late.” hongjoong says as he catches you in the training room. you look up, shy since you got caught. “i know.. i just wanted to train more is all. he nods. “thats enough for today, come have a snack with me and hwa. you deserve it.” he smiles. you hesitate, but obey anyway. it was only your second day and yet you feel so welcomed. maybe being a proxy was all you needed. maybe you could finally fit in here.

“training? still? jeez newbie, you’re gonna end up working yourself to the bone” seonghwa chuckles as he takes a bite of his instant noodles. you laugh awkwardly, embarrassed about the true reason as to why you’re so desperate to train. “hongjoong was just like you, you know.. always working and working. until now, he forgets when to stop.” seonghwa reveals before getting a slap on the arm from hongjoong. “we dont need to talk about that,” he scoffs, rolling his eyes.

“just listen here… the operator wants good proxies. cant be one if youre overworking yourself ‘til you’re sick.” hongjoong reminds you. “so dont worry about perfecting everything now. seonghwa and i werent perfect in the beginning, but the operator was patient enough to believe in us.” he continued. “thats right… so eat up. you can always continue tomorrow after you rest.” seonghwa smiles before taking another bite.

“there you are, yunho” the operator said blankly as he walked in. “i’m assuming you are aware we have a new proxy?” he asks. yunho nods, which pleases the operator. “good. you will be paired with her on a new mission. you’re a very smart man, yunho. and so, i trust that you wont let her do anything stupid. am i correct?” “yes sir,” yunho answers. “very well then, heres your files. she’s already waiting outside.” the operator hands yunho the files of your target before dismissing him.

outside, sitting on the porch, was the new girl, patiently waiting for her new mission partner. “there you are,” he calls out from behind you. you turn, looking up at him as you stood up. “oh, you’re yunho?” you ask quietly. “yes,” he nods. “i have the files, lets get going so that we can finish the mission quickly.” he tells you before walking past. you quickly follow along, trying to catch up.

it was awkward and quiet during the first ten minutes. yunho didnt feel the need to speak and you werent sure if you were allowed to. until you finally spoke up. “how did you become a proxy..?” you ask shyly, voice as small as you were. “same way as you did. i ran away, the operator found me, and offered me a better life.” he answered blankly, messing around with his pocket knife. you nod slowly. “you werent nervous? to kill people i mean… werent you scared?” you continue. he sighs. “at first, i was. who wouldnt be? but then you kind of grow numb to it. plus, we’re taking out criminals. people who cause harm to others. you stop feeling bad after a little bit cause you start to realize how horrible everyone is.”

that hit hard. “i see,” you answered. then, it was yunho who continued. “how’d you become a proxy for slenderman?” he questions. “youre so… i mean youre practically shaking out of your boots.” he chuckled. “im really lonely… i think he could sense that i needed someone” was all you said. he didnt pry after.

you two made it to the given location. a hideout in the middle of the woods. in here lived a man wanted for murder. and so here you were, taking him out for his crime. it’s ironic. killing him because he does the same thing you do. yunho held him back as you grabbed an axe you had found in the cabin. “let me go!” the man screamed. the taller male put his hand over his mouth. “shut the fuck up!” he groaned. “y/n! get him already!” he shouted.

adrenaline was rushing through your body, swirling through your veins. you closed your eyes so that you didnt have to see what you were about to do. you raised your hands before swinging. it only took one hit. blood splattered everywhere, coating your faces red. you finally opened your eyes, staring at the mess you made. you started to panic. “holy shit.. what the fuck did i just do… yunho we have to help him!” you urged. yunho let go, letting the man drop to the floor. “we cant do anything, y/n.” he says before patting your shoulder. “you did good. just relax.”

you shook your head this was your first murder after all. “wh… what if we get caught?!” you panicked. “we wont get caught if you keep your mouth shut. stay on the look out while i clean up. then, we have to get out of here” he tells you. you stay outside, nauseous as you think about what happened. you cant speak, or move, or think really. yunho basically has to drag you home.

“look what the cat dragged in,” hongjoong smirks as you and yunho walk into the living room, both bloody. “everything went well?” he asks the two of you. he nods, then turns to look at you. “however this one started freaking out after killing the guy… hasnt warmed up yet” he rolls his eyes. “she’ll get used to it” hongjoong chuckles before taking a sip of his drink.
