i posted that video months ago and am still getting angry comments over it. the very concept of someone not being able to speak the language their parent does is, apparently, absurd and scandalous to a good amount of people. why anyone would lambast Nico over it is beyond me. not only that, but his own identity as a German is questioned again and again and i find that quite interesting, the way this has been happening for years on end. you've got a fraction slamming him over his "disrespect" towards Finns because how dare he say he's not a Finn, his father must be so disappointed by him. he doesn't deserve the nation of Finland, that disgraceful fool! then you've got others pillorying him over "pretending" to be German and the topic of "just because you're born there, it doesn't mean you're from there" is brought up constantly. it's crazy. i can't imagine how annoying it must be for him to be on the receiving of such blatant scrutiny over heritage/roots/the off-putting notion of blood purity and lineage, etc., etc.
