Actually now that it's clear in my head how John, Katherine, and Markus approach their Biotics it makes more sense why John would be Katherine's friend and also why John would hate Markus the moment they actually meet

Markus saying "Whatever, it's not like it changed anything for me" to John, a guy whose entire life was uprooted as a kid because some shady adults wanted to use him and his Biotic potential, is so wild like I wouldn't begrudge John if he wanted to kill Markus in that moment

The fact that John (Earthborn) is a Biotic, and so are Katherine and Markus (Spacer), but John's experience as a Biotic is different to Markus' experience, which is different to Katherine's experience

"How could Markus and Katherine have different experiences if they're siblings?" Well you see, Katherine is the one who actually trained her Biotics, while Markus did not,

To summarize:

John: Considers his Biotics both a blessing and a curse because they're the reason why he was trafficked, then nearly murdered by a rival gang. But they are also the reason he was brought to the Alliance. In another lifetime he would have been a scientist researching Biotics because of this, but instead he ended up being a Vanguard. In the end, he considers them a part of him, and he refuses to be used as a weapon any longer

Katherine: Considers her Biotics as a tool of great potential. When her parents didn't want to invest any time in them, she decided she would take up training her Biotics herself. In secret. She used her family connections to get the resources she needed to build up her talents. Though she's still mostly a politician and not a soldier, Katherine has built a reputation and is a notable name in the Alliance as a Biotic figure

Markus: Considers his Biotics as a bit of a nuisance. He doesn't really care for them, and when his parents decided they weren't going to invest any time in them, he was willing to go along with it. Unfortunately Katherine didn't go along with it, so a while afterwards his parents began comparing their Biotic skills as well. Markus just saw it fit to just get the basic implant that makes sure the Biotics don't kill him and leave it at that. They didn't affect his standing in the Alliance at all, mostly because he didn't tell anyone he had them in the first place

#Space Shenanigans in Space #Both John and Katherine would be big names in the Alliance known for having Biotics #The difference is that Katherine does a lot of talking and has a big presence in diplomacy #And John is the first ever Biotic to make N7 #(Markus doesn't count because not many people even know he's a Biotic)

The idea of the Crack Fantasy AU swapping John and Jane's roles.... in their world Jane is the designated hero while John is her right hand man who watches her six..... then in the new world John ends up being the hero while Jane is the one protecting him.....

Because in their world, the hero is a deified figure and everyone knows who she is..... while in the new world, the hero is a regular person and no one knows his name
