Ricky nodded in agreement and smiled, glad to see that he was managing a pleasant conversation with the pair before him.Ā āRight? I think more people should talk about food when they enjoy it. Some stuff is really just so good that it needs to be shared.ā He smiled, recalling a few places heād been to that he happily blabbed about to friends and coworkers. They were all happy about any recommendations he had, because Ricky liked trying out new places and wishing for the best of each one. So he shared the ones that actually made an impression and stuck in his mind.
He listened in to the other and gave an agreeing nod, figuring that he very well could join in, and maybe rope some of his own friends into the group and complete the ensemble.Ā āYouāve got a point there. I can probably persuade my pals to join into the Backstreet Boys so we can complete the song with a well-rounded sound.ā He responded with a grin, tilting his head a little and waving a hand reassuringly at Nathanial.Ā āOh, trust me, Iām sure a lot of us donāt come here expecting to be picked up by some record label or agent. Though now youāve got me curious about what you are vocally talented in.ā
Ricky gave a thumbs up at that, chuckling to himself and figuring theyād do well enough without the naughty hip movements onstage.Ā āYou think people would be interested after a few pelvic thrusts? Is that how it works?ā He asked in amusement, sipping on his beer a little and blinking at Nathanialās correction.Ā āHuh? Oh, no no. I uh⦠Single.ā He explained, showing off his hand and the lack of ring as an added bit of proof.Ā āI donāt think I have to worry about any frying pans. Or people rushing after me either.ā He laughed, finding the very notion to be rather silly. Absurd even.
āFor you guys though? I dunno, might have to call security to get them off you both.ā
THIS WAS WHY NATHANIEL WANTED TO BRING FINNICK OUT.
To have fun and meet new people --- to see that there was more to life than just reports and overbooked schedules that barely left his brother with any time to sleep. One night per week would be enough to remember his workaholic of a brother that there was more to life than just work. That they could meet interesting people, have a few laughs and create brand new memories that would accompany them forever. And their guest? Ricky? He was doing everything right --- making them actually excited with the prospect of singing. What was that sayingā¦. ? When in Rome?
āI SING TERRIBLY. LIKE A DYING CAT. I THINK SOME AWKWARD DANCING WILL PREVENT PEOPLE FROM RUNNING AWAY.ā
Finnick reached out for his beer and attempted not to chuckle as he took a sip, exchanging a complicit look with his twin that was definitely enjoying the outcome of that night. One thing was going out to listen to some music and have a few beers --- another was discussing the chance of them going on stage at a karaoke bar and end up singing Backstreet Boys with a man they had just met. āI am what you call a shower-singer. That way no one can hear me. And if they do --- they might as well assume I am drowning the cat under the shower. I am just preparing you for it. For the madness.ā
āHENCE WHY PELVIC THRUSTS ARE A DISTRACTION.ā
Nate scanned the room once more. It was crowded but not overly full. Most people seemed to be already in some alcoholic induced haze --- finding the liquid courage they needed to perform. āI can handle myself.ā Nate was the first to answer with a smile, gently lifting his shirt to show the badge strapped to his belt. āIf anything --- I might have to be the one keeping people off from you. Youāre single, you are going to pelvic thrust avenue with us and youāre incredibly nice. I believe that before the night ends, I will be have to be pushing the ladies away from you.ā Maybe he should consider a change of career for bodyguard. Even if the other man was more buffed than he and Finnick together. āI just hope you donāt run away after we slaughter the song. We really sing awfully.ā
