Have you thought of any illnesses unique to Memor? I imagine they wouldnt have the same kinds of illnesses we'd have like colds and flus and stuff.
the question did cross my mind numerous times i just never committed to it fully. like yeah, human bacterial and viral diseases aren't able to affect memors because their composition is way too different and too hostile, with all the chemicals in way larger proportions than it would be in human body (or they are able to survive but not affect memors).
but to think of a native to kepler bacterias would just require too much, because one reason to develop a fictional illness is if you want to focus on it in the plot, like it usually is in sci-fi oh no everyone got sick with this scary cosmic disease with a hyperspecific cure to it, we must get neow!! but i haven't gotten any inspiration for it yet. like for sure this would add to biodiversity of kepler to think of some bacterial diseases but if you're not gonna show it then whats the point?
so far i have thought of pathologies and birth deformities that would be very much prevalent in "imperfect organic stone-making machine" where much relies on how the rock matter acts: does it disolve properly does it separate into bones properly? leading to many cases where for example the geode doesn't turn into sand to form bones or doesn't do so fully, so what can come out is a stone egg covered in skin and furr or just a sandy blob (amorphous globosus reference). or just simple "bones grew together" making memor disabled (like with cecil).
there also was one of the older concepts from very long ago, i probably won't be able to find images for it, but basically it was that soft tissues can randomly start turning into rock, like a random part of memor body could become affected at any time. the idea is good, i will probably rethink it because previously it just looked like part of the body turning into pure gemstone, but at the time i didn't know that humans had similar condition (Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva) so now i can take inspo from there, and it makes sense for creatures who can somewhat reshape their bones to be affected by it too albeit with different cause.
and at last there is just plain irritation from the environment that some memors can have, given that their gemstone is reactive to some degree, like passive reactions that some have to oxygen that acts similar to asthma or just constant allergic reaction (like with clyde, and if i still had some of the older characters relevant, oliver too as she would have even more aggressive reaction given that she is a cinnabar)
so yeah, for now i only have thaose, diseases that are not necessarily caused, just a byproduct of how memor's bodies operate, and not caused by an outside agents smg smg💔
was discussing tumblr habits w somebody in a mutual discord server last night and they were so gobsmacked i like to ideally have 100+ posts in my queue at any given time 😭 how many do y’all have in your queue if you use it??

As of TODAY Twitch has quietly added the Generative Ai Training model into your account without your permission.
For the time being it is TOGGLEABLE and you can TURN IT OFF!
However, we do not know if Twitch will force this to be on at all times like some other platforms, like X/Twitter, have previously done.
Regardless of IF YOU STREAM OR NOT you should TURN THIS "TRAINING FOR GENERATIVE AI" SETTING OFF IMMEDIATELY!
To do so you must go to: https://www.twitch.tv/settings/security
And then scroll all the way down near the bottom.
There you'll find the "Training for Generative Ai" setting, toggle it to OFF!
Be sure to keep sending messages to Twitch that you do NOT want this to exist.
And another reminder that if you do stream on Twitch, like I do, you should start preparing you and your audiences to migrate elsewhere ASAP.
By the way they are very aware about why they made it opt out and not opt in. :)
"If it was opt in, nobody would opt in."
worth nothing that historical "black magic" or "necromancy" did not really involve reviving corpses or the undead, but it still very often involved desecrating them and disturbing the rest of the dead by using them for divination or other purposes. Now, many records of such "black magic" are actually slander but it still reveals how disturbing the dead is one of the most heinous acts you can commit. In fact, this is still something that is considered as such by virtually all, and again, not to get into very political territory here, but it is considered one of the worst crimes that can be commited and have been actually judged in courts of law and considered war crimes.
Which is why to me there's such a whiplash when there's a quirky chungus D&D necromancer character who practices "ethical necromancy", or players or writers who kind of understand that a necromancer is supposed to be feared and kind of bad and villagers should close their doors and shun them, but they don't understand why, like, is it because they're too goth? No, it's because of the above.
Yeah, write whatever you want and so on, but if you're writing horror you should understand where the horror part comes from.
I forget where I saw it, but I did see one of those "ethical necromancy" worldbuilding projects where a focus was put on each corpse being held for a certain number of years before being used. The idea was to wait until it was out of living memory, so no one would have to see someone they'd known alive walk around undead. I thought that was neat.
I do wonder how many of the various taboos around corpse desecration come from the fact that if a corpse isn't properly disposed of, people start dying from disease. I don't know enough to make a claim, but intuitively, it seems like it should be a significant factor. I've seen some worldbuilding where cleanliness of the corpses being used is a factor as well.
Biologically, yes, that's very likely where most of our taboos and issues come from (similarly to the uncanny valley is probably very much related to corpses). However, there is still a cultural thing; every culture has a way to dispose the death and more importantly to process grief and loss after death. It's not only the physical object but the death itself.
I can imagine that necromancy, in a fictional world where it exists as in "raise the undead" concept, may be part of that in some cultures, but you need to take it seriously enough.
