Ash watches the other, his brows furrowed as the other scrambles to create more distance between them although his back is already up against a wall. He can see he’s breathing hard. He’s scared and he begins to feel a distant echo of fear, a byproduct of his confusion. The question leaves him silent, unsure how to answer it. He doesn’t know if the man is questioning their situation or him, would he be considered the this?
The laughter is pretty fucking creepy in his opinion. It’s so soft and eerie that he imagines his skin would prickle with goosebumps if his skin had the ability. He walks to the desk and Ash merely stands where he is and watches him.
“…I was about to ask you the same…considering I’m the one whose been locked in the closet for a week.”
A silence slips between them and he uses the opportunity to ask,
“Where’s Nathan?”
There’s a worry to his voice. A concern for the man who he cares for. The man was his creator and companion. He was his purpose and he doubts he would willingly let another human have access to his room.
he feels sick. his head is swimming and he’s dizzy. another bought of nervous laughter, and Caleb grabs for the edge of the desk in order to ground himself. there’s no escape-- he’s trapped here with this... this twin, and when the other speaks once more, the hair at the back of his neck stands on end.
locked in the closet for a week. the same week he’s been here.
the silence allows Caleb to finally catch his breath, though he’s still entirely too frazzled to really catch up to his reeling mind. the question has Caleb flash a short frown. he gazes at the other curiously, brows furrowed and heart thudding wildly in his chest. fear.
❝ Nathan’s dead. ❞
there’s no sense sugarcoating things. it was true, && if the other simply walked to the secured door, and he looked through the frosted glass, he’d see the bodies that lay outside in the corridor. he wonders for a second whether telling this android that his creator is deceased is a good thing-- he wonders for a moment whether the other will be saddened by this news. he watches for any indication of distress before finally side-stepping a little closer. he pulls his keycard from his pocket-- a subtle and desperate attempt to escape once more making him slip the card into the reader on Nathan’s desk. it beeps.
( NOTHING )
❝ i made a terrible, awful mistake. ❞
