Also, if you live in a red state: Just fuckin lie. I find the person on the other end of the line is a lot more receptive when I open up with "I support the goal, but not the methods" and then focus on concerns of privacy and "freedom of speech" (and none of those things are entirely false anyway) You're never gonna see these people in person, who gives a shit if they think you're "one of them"
