Hand Painted Insect Tights by almamidesign

Alysa Liu's gown, designed by London-based couturier Nicholas Oakwell, was a textural dream and paid homage to her Chinese ancestry with a traditional Mandarin-collar high neck, complete with super-short cap sleeves and an asymmetric front-opening placket with flat, bow-style pankou fastenings. The top of the outfit featured a corset-style bodice with visible boning in the abdomen and a bra insert, all adorned with intricate floral lace. From the back, the corset features a lace-up system running from the top of the neck down the spine to the lower back, giving it a skeleton-esque look, with a thin black cord woven down the center back via two rows of parallel black metallic eyelets. The top of the outfit was seamlessly integrated into an overlaid high-waisted skirt, constructed from the same lace, and connected by lingerie-inspired mock garter tights that cascaded into a voluminous, denser ruffled skirt with a short train for a mermaid-like silhouette. Liu opted for another updo, this time in the form of an intricate braided style with blonde extensions, and pushed her usually face-framing curtain bangs to one side, covering the entirety of her forehead for a Y2K flair. As for the rest of her glam, she wore her signature smokey eye and also threw on a mismatched manicure set featuring black and lace accents to match the goth allure of her showstopping gown. For the finishing touch, Liu chose Pandora jewelry, her stylist Katie Qian shared, wearing a variety of rings, a dangling diamond earring, and a matching statement cuff that wrapped around one ear.
