Together, they brave obstacles and find love in the arms of one another. A typical story, right? Wrong. As an adjunct to her other Dark-Hunter Series, it tells of a wider story line than your typical novel. Unlike the usual book series that features a limited range of characters and focuses on only one main character, Kenyon’s novels focus on a large scale world with different characters for every novel and a different perspective on each. According to the series’ summary in sherrilynkenyon.com, it has four main books about the four main characters, Acheron, Jaden, Savitar, and a fourth that hadn't yet been named. Within the book, No Mercy, lies the ff. stories: 1. The main story, which is about Samia and Dev; 2. Epilogues of former Kenyon books like Acheron, and Bad Moon Rising, and; 3. Sneak peek of other characters’ (those that will have future books of their own) personalities, e.g. Savitar, Thorn, Nick (Nick has his own series, The Chronicles of Nick). In addition, it’s packed with a lot of “lip” which gives it a heavy dose of comedy. The book itself can stand alone and could be an introductory book for books printed before it. So, whichever book you start with, doesn't really matter. However, for best results, refer to the reading list on her website (but it’s just for formality I guess, I actually started with the third book before I read the others and it didn't make that much of a difference). The fight scene in the book is commendable, the emotions heartfelt, and the characters alive. There wasn't one left stagnant or imperfect. Every one of the characters have their own emotions and pasts to deal with. The way that Sherri has planned the plot on which Samia and Dev could and would be together, shows how much a person (no matter what kind of specie you are) is willing to sacrifice to be with the one they love. Moreover, it once again proves Kenyon's favorite saying: "Happy endings happen even to those who don't believe in them." No Mercy is highly recommended to contemporary romance, paranormal romance enthusiasts, and also to those who had given up on love. View all my reviews
