Vox pauses. He slowly turns to Alastor.

"It failed. I'm going to try again." He says flatly.

Alastor looked at him with his playful smile almost dropping, "your not... serious? Right?"

"Why would you care?" He tilted his head slightly. "You're always fighting me and trying to kill me and saying you hate me. I'll be doing you a favor."

"oh please, I've never actually tried to kill you, I don't explicitly recall saying I hate you necessarily"

"It doesn't matter anyway." He shrugged. "Once I'm gone you can live out the rest of your days in Hell without me stalking you, attacking you, or trying to get your attention. I'm sure that will be a relief." He smiled.

"Pfft." Vox scoffed. "Why not? Why do you suddenly care if I live or die?"

"well I can't stop you if I don't know your plan so that means I'm just gonna have to stay here forever and fight you on this"

Vox sighed.

"You are the reason." He may as well be honest if he's gonna die anyway. "You have infected me. My every thought is nothing but you, Alastor. You are the motive behind my every action. I can't stop thinking about you and how much you hurt me. How you manipulated me. Made me think I was your friend only to turn your back on me when I was at my most vulnerable."

He smiled. "I thought killing you would be the way to get rid of the pain you caused. But I realized... that would only make it worse. The part of me that still loves you would only hate me more. So the best way to rid myself of you," he spread his arms. "Is to rid you of me."

"wha?...vox that's not what happened. It was the other way around. We were close, and then you became more and more obsessed with this idea of being an overlord, and then that night, I realized you only ever used me to get to the top....is that... Really what you think Happened?"
