I've come across posts calling Qusartico boring or wishing that they were the true villains. Or saying that they should have been the evil organization. And to me they are. Although I wouldn't call them evil per say. Their actions are subtly villainous, but I don't think they were intending to be.
While on the surface Qusaetico helps with the Rogue Megas and keep the wild PokΓ©mon contained in the wild zones, this is also part of the problem. They omitted the truth. They knew the tower was drawing in the Wild Pokemon. They knew the tower was a problem. But they kept the truth hidden and put on a contest to find a savior. A plan that very likely would have failed if not for Zygarde and Lysander also working behind the scenes.
And let's just look at Wild Zones. While they do keep wild PokΓ©mon away from the public, people have been pushed out. An interesting reversal of humans taking over places where animals occupy. Did you have a stall that was your source of income in that park? Well too bad. Unless you wanna play the floor is lava with the pride of Pyroar, you better not go in there. But don't worry, I'm sure if you end up on the street, you can find a nice cozy bench to sleep on. As long as you do it up right.
And while we're on the topic. Anti homeless infrastructure has existed since the 19th century. Do we honestly think that PokΓ©mon only just decided to add it in as set dressing? Kalos as a whole isn't an ideal place. The streets are covered in sludge, debris and mega stones. Maybe, just maybe, you were supposed to be upset that it's there. And not to give the writers too much credit but I'm starting to think they managed to do Paris Syndrome. Which is when a place is presented as idyllic and when tourist visit, it turns out to be like any other country. There's trash, people going to work and they can be rather blunt or rude. Just normal day to day life of any country. And what's crazy is that Japan tourist supposedly suffer from Paris Syndrome the most.
Anyways, back to the Wild Zones. Did people forget the whole point of the survey was for Mabel to know what's happening? She even says how stupid it is to chuck a bunch of PokΓ©mon in a enclosed area. But I don't recall Vinnie ever speaking with her or mentioning her. So correct me if I'm wrong.
Now let's look at the Battle Zones from the Royal. So they lured people in with a wish to find the strongest Mega user. And the wish in the end is just continuing the same shit you've been doing from the beginning. But infinitely. And again, if it wasn't for Zygarde their plan probably would have failed. Plus like the Wild Zones, the battle Zones are equally intrusive. You can find an NPC trapped in one of the stores because a battle zone activated and they only have two specific exits. So he has to wait till morning to get out.
Let's have another NPC, specifically the one you and Corbeau battle to protect Jett, the Quasartico boss from. That NPC actually calls them out. He explains that they aren't making people and PokΓ©mon live in harmony. You've just pushed the people out and let the PokΓ©mon take over. And the saddest part. You can actually find him again. I found him after completing the game he states that nothing has changed. And that's usually how it goes.
The story is currently opened ended for gameplay mostly. And while sure, you defeated the monster. The people of Kalos still have bars on their benches and a Wild Zone you don't really want to enter unless you're a trainer or you want to be attacked by wild PokΓ©mon. Can't even go for a peaceful walk at night without the risk of being stuck in a battle zone. Or stuck with trainers waiting to jump you and continue this nonsense infinitely.
I've been sitting on this post for a while. It was supposed to be a look at all the Legends ZA organizations. But I decided to dedicate this to Quasartico first. I hoped they seemed a lot more nuanced in their actions to simply characterize them as good and evil. Or write them off as boring.
I wish we got more of them. Jett's just kinda there. She's the boss so most of the stuff I assume happens because she gave the go ahead. But she doesn't really have a memorable personality.
Vinnie is cool aesthetically and he has his little moments. But a slight nitpick of him and the game in general is how the characters have phones. And this makes characters a bit irrelevant or redundant. Like what was stopping Team MZ and Vinnie from having a four way call? It's not like you guys animate the characters anyways. And it gets worst in the DLC. Corbeau calling us into his office to tell us nothing was legit pissing me off. That whole DLC was a frustration.
It is odd that Vinnie was working with Corbeau. Almost like making your grandson the boss of the company with no experience was a mistake. Cause I believe Vinnie was dealing with Corbeau rather than Urbian because they didn't want him to scammed again.
Vinnie might also be a little uneasy about working with Rust Syndicate. I can only assume because one of the missions is helping him battle Corbeau and Phillippe. The two of them are trying to get more money out of him for their work. But I can't find and don't remember what he says specifically. I think he says he has to fight them to prove himself. Something like that. The hyperspace versions of them may or may not be dreams. And I guess Vinnie was trying to build his confidence to face Corbeau and Phillippe if they tried to strong arm him.
I don't give them too much hell because telling the truth would have caused a panic. And you can't run from a weapon designed to wipe out the world.
