âIt was set to stop most people,â Troy huffed. âJust about everyone here is civilians. They wouldnât spot the traps, let alone be able to dismantle them.â He gave Grey a pointed look. Not quite one that spoke of a dressing down but close enough. However seeing Grey like that, curled up in his bed, it wasnât easy to hold that look. Even harder when Grey cracked wise about Troyâs bunk. He smiled and snorted. âI held rank over you. Perks of climbing the latter. You had could have cushy things too if you hadnât gone around pissing everyone off.â Like that would ever happen. Part of Greyâs personality was not knowing when to hold his tongue. He had even popped off on Troy a few times. It was as frustrating as it was endearing. He turned and looked away when Grey spoke again. He knew, yeah. But it wasnât something that he wanted to bring up. He didnât see Grey like that. Grey was his brother in arms. They had run around in camps, stationed together too many times to count. âYeah,â he said, turning his gaze back to Grey. âDoesnât change the fact youâre still a pain in the ass.â
âBut you never know when someone is going to break into your room thatâs not a civilian. What if I happened to be some spy with a personal vendetta against you? I could have easily taken down you defenses and got the perfect nights rest in your bed.â The smile on his face was wide as he stretched himself out further into the comfort of the manâs bed. âI didnât piss everyone off, just those that didnât have a sense of humor and were assholes.â He knew he could be a bit abrasive to some people, but that was only because everyone seemed to take their lives a bit to seriously. Everyone needed to slow down and open up. âIâm a good doctor.â He had worried about that- unsure of when he had gone from trauma doctor to nose and throat doctor at an underground sex establishment- oh right, his fucking exâŚthe chief of his last hospital. Fucker.  âIâm your favorite pain in the ass, and you know it- though I think Daredevin is starting to win you over- What do I gotta do to fix that?â He laughed as he sat up, grabbing hold of the otherâs wrist to tug him into bed with him.
âA spy? Get out of here. Frist, you would make a shitty spy. You talk too much. Second, Iâve vetted people around here. You donât think I didnât take some precautions?â He frowned shaking his head a the thought. Grey knew him better than that. Or at least he should. âNo one in any branch of the military as a sense of humor. that why they join the military, duh.â Troy laughed as he said this. Grey had a point but when your life is rank and file there is no room for upstarts and people that caused trouble and that how a good number of people saw grey. It was a wonder he made it to Captain. Of course, no one could deny his skill. When working on a patient he was fast, calm and capable. He was a marvel to watch at work. âYouâre an amazing fucking doctor,â He said. The mention of Devin had troy frowning. He already missed the other. He would never tie Dev down. Not in a million years but he did wish that the other would stay. Maybe next time he would just go with Devin. Whatever corner of the world the guy flew off to, Troy could easy board a plane and go with. He wasnât giving long to think about this as grey pulled him down on the bed. He growled and righted himself so that he was sitting up. âYou can start by not jerking on me like a rag doll. I have half I mind to knock you one. Or sic Jordon on you. â
