I started writing this for a response to a prompt in my turn up the heat prompt meme but then I was like “is this dynamic… too overdone” because I specifically (this is buddietommy btw) like Tommy to be long-suffering and Buck and Eddie to be bratty as hell. so I stopped and didn’t finish (plus I had to get back to work after lunch). but then I decided that actually that’s what I like so who the fuck cares lmao
Eddie kicked Buck's shin. "Move," he grumbles, scooching away until he was perched at the edge of the mattress, his body curled like a comma.
Buck kicked back. "There's not enough room," he says. He wiggles out from under the thin sheet until there's nothing left covering him. He flops out onto the bed, long limbs encroaching into Eddie's space—and Tommy's, too, on the other side—as he pressed his foot into Eddie's leg. Eddie kicked at him again. "Stop," Buck whines. "'S not my fault."
"You're like a furnace, man," Eddie says. "It's too hot to be touching. Stay off of my side."
"Oh, so you get the whole side—"
"I'm on the edge of the bed!" Eddie says, turning over his shoulder to glare at Buck. He huffs and presses himself back down into his pillow, squirming just that scant distance further away. "You wanted to be in the middle."
"Yeah because I want to cuddle," Buck says sounding pouty about it.
"It's too hot to cuddle," Eddie and Tommy say at the same time.
"Okay, okay," Buck says, defeated. He goes quiet and the fan above them turns with a fast fwip fwip, circulating the air. It's at least some small measure of relief.
But then he shifts again and Eddie, whose maybe letting the heat get to him, growls. "Buck! Can you be still? And quiet? For one minute, please—I'm trying to sleep.
"Hey." Buck props himself up on his elbow and pokes Eddie's shoulder. "You're the one being loud, Eddie, I don't even do anything that time!"
Eddie wants to argue—he's going to argue, actually—when Tommy makes a grumbling, resigned noise from Buck's other side. He grabs Buck around the waist and pulls him in, then flops him over to the other side of the mattress.
