^ rings on horns like this arent used exclusively as ornamentation/status symbols but also in some places are used as currency
The rings that are used as currency in trades are usually made of valuable/precious materials such as silver and gold. The rings hold more value the further down the horn they are due to their larger size which obviously means theyre made of more material. The rings cant fall off the horn due to the horn cap. I imagine theyre differentiated from ornamental horn rings by being plain.
This is only really a thing in wealthier or safer communities because obviously carrying a ton of expensive shit in plain sight isnt a good idea in places you dont know. People usually also arent rich enough to be carrying so many rings on their horns at once, most people only have caps or one or two rings.
I imagine people have still sold their ornamental rings out of desperation in other parts of the world as a means of paying for something though. Silver/gold is still silver/gold, theres no reason for people outside of these communities not to take it as payment.
