youre wrong
your problems dont exist
if they do exist, theyre not as bad as usamerican problems
if they are as bad as usamerican problems, theyre not as important
if they are as important, you should stop complaining about them not acknowledging it because they literally used your problem as a gotcha in an argument/a learning moment for the global north

The way transmasc erasure is discussed within queer spaces is a pretty good example of transfem erasure.
Now transmasc issues are erased that’s obvious. But so are transfem issues, unless you seriously believe mainstream discourse actually gives a shit about including us in the discussion during an anti transfem moral panic. But guess which erasure is taken more seriously by the queer community.
Transmasc erasure is a cause for great concern, and that’s good transmascs are an important part of general queer discourse as all trans people are, but when transfems aren’t included in the conversation, even when that conversation is explicitly about us, no one seems to bat an eye. Transmasc erasure is used as a bludgeon against transfem issues, ironically used to erase our issues. When credible evidence is brought forward that transmascs have some structural benefits over transfems, such as the wage gap, the specter of transmasc erasure once again comes forth to silence us. Any transmasc privilege is down played because “survivorship bias.” Because this survey only targets transmascs with a job, or with stable housing or with enough money etc etc. completely ignoring, no, erasing, that transfems face many of the same structural barriers, often further amplified by transmisogyny. This means that when you take demographics without a job, without housing and who are critical impoverished into account the disparity is likely exasperated not lessened. Arent transfems one of the most chronically unemployed, homeless and impoverished demographics there is? Is it not “erasure” of our issues that our poverty is ignored in favor of transmasc poverty when our issues are dismissed out of hand?
There is a general trans erasure, one effecting transmascs, one that makes it so their issues are not taken seriously in broader discourse that’s undeniable. But to act like the erasure transmascs face is somehow unique to them, not an issue that faces transfems on an equal, and due to transmisogyny even greater, scale, is to erase transfem erasure.
Like the number of times one heard “survivorship bias” when talking about a survey talking about wage discrimination they’re like “well this survey doesn’t include impoverished transmascs” just completely ignoring impoverished transfems. Like yeah I’m sure if you judged wage difference in a survey that included all transmascs both well off and poor but only included well off transfems the wage gap would disappear. But like this whole argument is playing into the stareotype very strongly that trans women are all well educated software engineers and
Actually poor trans women exist too. The only way you can ignore the wage gap or other structural issues we face is by picking and choosing which marginalized community gets to account for poor people and which one doesn’t.
I’m sure if you pitted the wage gap between global south billionaires and global north proletarians you’d also find no good evidence that the global north plundered the wealth of and impoverished the global south.
All anti transfeminists must paint all transfems as white, educated, wealthy, global northerners because by erasing the most marginalized trans women you can compare the most privileged trans women to the most marginalized tme people and no one will bat an eye when you use that to say that transmisogynistic structural privilege doesn’t exist.

Hey so. Child of an influencer here, you’ve hit the nail on the head pretty well. I spent my childhood slowly learning that being happy around my mother would end up as just a way to make content. I stopped being around my mother, I stopped smiling around her, I ran, physically ran when I saw cameras, to this day I have to beg her to put her phone away whenever we’re hanging out. To this day when I do anything for her the first thing I see her do is open her phone and it makes me want to stop doing nice things. With my friends I always duck out of photos or push them away when it comes to things like that, even though I love them and I don’t want them to think I don’t want to hangout—if we plan on going somewhere “aesthetic” I make an excuse. I hate my body in the mirror because every photo of me online is filtered. My skin was bleached as a child. My mother had be use foundation to make it look lighter by the time I was 10. I feel gross looking at my skin. I feel worse wearing makeup. My biggest fear is being recorded. I’m convinced there are always eyes on me. I don’t feel safe crying in my own home because What If Someone Can See Me.
